Spring Fling at Birch Park / Buck Meadow
Bill and Norma Bruce of Breakin Chains Disc Golf are the TDs for this event.
We would like to welcome you all to Amherst NH's Birch Park Disc Golf Course, home of the Birch Park Tag League and to the Buck Meadow Temporary Disc Golf Course. This is a PDGA B-Tier sanctioned tournament. All PDGA disc golf players are welcome.
Birch Park is a great course with some challenging holes. The town of Amherst Parks and Rec. Dept. headed by Craig Fraley, are always working on the course and making new improvements. This year we have worked closely with Craig of Parks and Rec as well as the Amherst Conservation Board to allow us to add the Buck Meadow complex to this years agenda. Buck Meadow is an old 9 hole golf course that is now been turned into conservation land. After walking the property several times, Bill Bruce of Breakin Chains Disc Golf, along with Dicky Smart and Bryant Chamberlin (with Luna Chamberlin) have designed a temporary course that you will really enjoy. This is a 6,370 ft course at par 59, with some great challenging holes as well as a great pond shot. Hole 18 is an island shot with a raised basket . This is going to be so much fun.
It is a special opportunity to be able to play this temporary set up at Buck Meadow so don't miss out. This course is only open on Friday April 14th and Saturday April 15th. I will be holding flex starts at the course both days and you can either play in them or just come by and get some practice in before the tournament. If you do not wish to play the flex starts it is ok. There will be a $5.00 Greens fee if your not playing in the tournament Flex Starts. There will be no other opportunities to play on this course set up. There has been a lot of effort to make this happen and we hope you will all come and have a great time . There will also be a Glow Round on Saturday Evening, April 15th at Buck Meadow. This will be a doubles match with $$ payouts. On Friday and Saturday we will also offer C-tier flex starts, at both courses. Check the Disc Golf Scene for more information on these other opportunities. Again if you are not in the Flex Starts there will be a $5.00 Greens fee to use the course.
The Hole and Course assignments will be up on the PDGA Website sometime Saturday afternoon. We will send out an email at that time and include all the OB's. Registration will start at 7:30 am and end at 8:30 am. Please go to the course you are assigned to and sign in. The First Round will begin at 9:00 am. There will be 2 rounds of 18 holes played by each player with a lunch break between rounds. Second round will begin 30 minutes after last card from 1st round comes in. We will hold a quick players meeting on both courses at 8:35 to discuss any questions, concerns or changes at this time.
Player Packs: Will be handed out when you sign in at Tournament headquarters.
We will be using live scoring for this tournament which should help move things right along when it comes to adding up all the scores. Your code for live scoring will be sent to you in the players information E-mail on Saturday afternoon.
The course will be in long basket positions and OBs will be in effect.
All PDGA Rules will be enforced and it is the players responsibility to familiarize themselves with these rules. Payouts will follow PDGA guidelines.
LUNCH: You will be on your own to provide yourself with some lunch. As I mentioned lunch will go until 30 minutes after the last card comes in. There are lots of places to eat over by Buck Meadow on rt 101A, as well as a few great places in Amherst.
PAYOUTS: Pro players will receive cash payouts and all AM players will receive Gift Certificates to be used at any of our three Breakin Chains Locations . We are located at the Bellamy Park Course in Dover and also on 373 S. Willow St in Manchester NH. Units D 1-7 Tel;603-232-2261 as well as our new Nashua location located at 383 East Dunstable Rd
Don't forget to sign up for the Ace Pot and the CTP options if you want to be able to qualify for them. It is the Policy of Breakin Chains Disc Golf that any ACE hit on a CTP hole is considered the ultimate CTP and the player will not only receive the ACE $$ for the hole, they will get the CTP prize also. There will be a playoff for the Ace Pot if it is not hit during the tournament. The Tournament Director will decide on rules for the playoff .
