About this tournament

SpAce Race 2017! Round 6:

NEW INFO AND RULE CHANGES:

The first SpAce Race that you play this year requires you to buy a player pack disc that has the SpAce Race logo stamped on it. After that all rounds will be 15$ like last year.

Rule change #1: The Constellation and SpAce Invader points are being combined into a single Constellation Points category. The scoring for this category is now as follows:

A constellation occurs when your disc comes to rest within a disc's distance of another disc (no oversized discs allowed anymore). Starting this year the smallest scoring increment of 1 point occurs when your disc constellates with another player's disc.

1 point: Constellation with another player's disc.
2 points: SpAce Invader -- when a disc comes to rest on top of another player's disc, by any amount. Both players get the points.
3 points: Constellation with another one of your own discs.
6 points: An Eclipse, which is when you SpAce Invader one of your own discs.
10 points: Full constellation -- when all 3 of your discs form a constellation with each other.
Chain Reaction multiplier -- For every 3rd+ disc that can added to a constellation add another point scored for each disc.

As usual, all Constellation points are doubled inside of Area 51!

EVENT INFO:

SpAce Race 2017! Round 6 is an ace run tournament held at Horning's Hideout Highlands course. All courses at Horning's will be open for play on the day of the tournament (including the Highlands course, depending on the number of tournament players). Horning's Hideout has a 4$ day use fee.

For an ace run you throw from the tee trying to make a hole in one with no further throws to complete the hole. 2 rounds played consecutively, 3 throws from the tee per hole per player.

Bring your own discs to throw, with holes ranging from 100 feet to 250 feet. Holes #5 and #6 have alternate shorter tee pads, making the longest throw around 220 feet if you wish to play those pads. Double points for scoring from the regular #5 and #6 tee pads. For the Women's Division half of the 18 holes have shorter marked tee pads.

There are two divisions: Men's and Women's with separate winners and pay outs.

TIME SCHEDULE:
10 AM registration. 11 AM all player meeting/card formation. 11:30 AM tee off, 5 PM awards/payouts.

COST:
15$. The first SpAce Race tournament you play this season required a SpAce Race disc purchase ($10-$13). $1 goes toward the double ace pot, 60 cents toward the series prize pool (trophies and cash payouts to the season leaders in all categories.) and $10.40 toward the day-of tournament payouts.

SCORING:
The main scoring category (for cash prizes) will be 5 points for an ace, 3 points for hitting chains (one link grazed does not count -- at least two strands of chains!) 2 points for metal, 2 points for hitting the bucket on top of the basket, whether it falls off or not, and 1 point for a tractor beam shot (disc lies within two discs' distance from the pole without having touched metal).

GROUP AND TOURNAMENT SIZE:
Play with your own group of up to 4 players (groups of 5 with one player playing as the "Fifth Wheel Fleet" -- playing for the double ace pot by themselves, is also allowed). Registered groups smaller than 4 players and individuals will form groups of 4 or 5 players during the playing meeting.

18 groups of 5 for a maximum of 90 players (with a little leeway for some groups of 5).

SERIES INFO:
SpAce Race 2017! consists of 7 ace run tournaments held at Horning's Hideout Highlands course from March through August.

There will be an overall series winner for the individual with the highest point total counting their 5 best event scores (allowing for three missed rounds or throw out your worst three scores if you've played all 9 rounds). Top 10 trophies will be awarded in the Men's Division, and for the Women's top 5 series finishers. Your best 5 rounds count for your series score.

Feel free to attend just one or as many rounds of SpAce Race 2017! as you wish.

Series Schedule:

March 18th, April 8th, April 29th, May 20th, June 17th, July 8th and July 29th.

PRIZE INFO:

Payouts are in cash using the PDGA payout table.

Constellation, and Area 51 point winners will receive a smaller cash prize. Only full shots thrown in an attempt to make an ace count toward Constellation points.

These additional scoring categories will be explained in the player meeting.

On top of each basket there is a 5 gallon bucket. If you knock the bucket off with your disc you win a drink and a snack. Bucket hits of any kind also count as a metal hit of 2 points for scoring.

The Double Ace pot is won when 2+ aces are made by a group on the same hole, both rounds of 18 included. If only one group hits the Double Ace pot once in a series round, 10% of the pot will go to each non-acing member of the group, with the rest divided evenly among the acers or to the individual who alone made 2+ aces on the same hole. If the Double Ace pot is not won in a monthly round it will carry over to the next monthly round. If there are no Double Ace pot winners in the final round, the pot will be divided equally according to aces in the final round.
