Welcome to the 9th Edition of the Southern Smash brought to you by RPM Discs.
Unfortunately, due to the recent devastating weather event in Queens Park, we have had to move the location of the Southern Smash.
The new venue for 2026 will be Otautau Golf Club.
Location:
Otautau is a beautiful small town in Central Southland, a 40-minute drive from the centre of Invercargill. The golf course offers the opportunity for some fun elevation that we do not have in Invercargill.
Accommodation
The Otautau Hotel has some accommodation and there are a couple of air bnbs in town. Another great thing about Otautau is that it is motorhome friendly, so if you are self-contained you can park up for the weekend. There is freedom camping at the Arboreteum just out of town. If you need help with transport from Invercargill to Otautau please reach out so we can help to arrange this for you.
We’re excited to bring you another fantastic year of competition and camaraderie at the Southern Smash. This year’s event will be a PDGA B-Tier, featuring three rounds of 18 holes across a fresh layout for 2026. Saturday will feature two shotgun-start rounds, while Sunday will conclude the weekend with one round of tee times.
Saturday Evening Hole in One Competition, Food and Drinks
Your entry fee includes Saturday evening finger food giving players a chance to relax, grab a drink (bar open - cash only), and enjoy some social games after a full day on the course. The beauty of Otautau is the opportunity for an awesome hole in one competition that will be held on Saturday after the completion of the second round.
Lunches
A sausage sizzle will be put on by the Golf Club on Saturday at lunch time. Supplement this with your own brought lunch or pop back into Otautau town as you wish. Nothing provided towards lunch on Sunday.
Amateur players will also receive a custom-stamped disc in their player pack, proudly provided by our awesome sponsors, RPM Discs.
Smash 26 Course
Gold Tees (MPO, MP40, MA1): Par 60, approx. 2200m/7200ft
Maroon Tees (All other divisions): Par 61, approx. 2070m/6800ft
Gold has three tees longer than Maroon - the other 15 tees are used for all divisions. Hole 10 plays as a Par 4 off the Gold Tees and as a Par 5 off the Maroon Tees.
