JoyRide Productions would like to announce the South Florida Open as the first in a new series of disc golf events in Southeast. The innaugural South Florida Open will be a PRO/ADV AM only format this year. This fall we will host the South Florida Open October 15-16 at Tradewinds Park in Ft Lauderdale, Florida. Our sponsors have generously donated $5000 in added money to the Pro and Adv Am divisions. The increased money and prizes in the Adv Am division is designed to encourage more of our best amateur players to travel and raise the competitive level of Amateur tournaments in the south. In an economy with higher gas prices and increased costs of living across the board JoyRide Productions recognizes that it is hard to budget travelling to distant tourneys, so this year we will be going unrated and offering Visa gift cards as payout to Ams that place "in the money."



A Club Challenge for the Ams is also going to be a part of our event in an effort to promote and reward the clubs that travel. As you know, our sport is run on the club level: clubs organize the leagues that are the bedrock of the modern disc golf scene. While the Professional ranks are what we, the average player aspire to, the local clubs provide the path. These clubs are the workforce behind maintaining current courses and the driving force behind installing new courses. The Club Challenge is our way to thank them for all they do for the sport. Prizes for the Club Challenge will include baskets for courses and money/sponsorship for the tournaments organized by the winning club.



The goal of JoyRide Productions is to provide bigger payouts to Pros and Ams and raise the visibility of disc golf by promoting the EDGE charities in local school districts. We feel the sport has to start at the youth level to achieve the national stature in the sports world that we know it deserves. We also hope to assist the growth of disc golf in South Florida by promoting the Clubs that are involved, as these clubs will foster the development of kids' interest.
