Eastwood SpACE Race Rules
1. General Rules & Format
This event is a non-sanctioned, casual "Ace Race" style tournament focused on fun, fast-paced play. The primary goal is to accumulate points, not to achieve the lowest score.
2. Player's Pack & Approved Discs
Every participant will receive a player's pack upon check-in. The discs provided in this pack, which are the Eclipse Atom and the Particle Eclipse Crave, and the Watermelon Fireball are the only three discs allowed for use during the tournament. The limited release Watermelon Fireball* is an optional disc that may be purchased through MVP Circuit Events, and it IS an approved disc for this event. No other discs from your personal collection may be used.
3. Scoring
The objective is to score points by acing, hitting the basket or making a putt for birdie. Each player gets two throws from the tee (no using the same disc twice from the same tee), and then one putt for birdie from their best lie. The goal is to accumulate the highest point total. Points are awarded as follows:
Ace: 5 points (discs that land in the basket from the tee)
Metal Hit: 3 points (discs that make contact with any part of the basket but do not go in for an ace)
Putt for Birdie: 1 point (a successful putt from the chosen best lie of the two throws)
The total score for the round is the sum of all points accumulated on each hole. The player with the highest cumulative score at the end of the event wins.
3 throws per person per hole. 2 tee shots and 1 putt.
Out of Bounds is defined as surrounded by or beyond the asphalt road or driveway. There will be no birdie putts for an out of bounds disc.
If an ace is hit, the birdie attempt must be made from the non-ace throw. If two aces, then there is no birdie putt. Highest score per hole is 10.
Examples of scoring scenarios:
1 Ace + 1 Metal + Birdie = 9 points
1 Metal + missed Birdie = 3 points
no Ace + no Metal + Birdie = 1 point
UDisc Scoring
Scores will be tracked using the UDisc app. For this event, players will use the par score counter to track their points. For example, an Ace is recorded as a +5, a Metal Hit as a +3, and a Putt for Birdie as a +1.
4. Course & Play
Layout: A modified, shortened "aceable" course layout with 27 holes will be used to increase the fun and opportunities for high scores. Distances will range from about 70'-130'. There will be several temporary tee areas and portable baskets.
5. Tie Breaker
In the event of a tie for first place, a sudden-death playoff will be held on a pre-designated hole.
