About this tournament

Welcome to the first annual Rocky Mountain Invitational! This event is the only tournament run by the Rocky Mountain Conference that functions as a fundraiser. Every dollar brought in will go towards bettering the conference in future events focusing on the Rocky Mountain Qualifier in October. This way our players will never have to worry about anything more than paying for travel. Don’t worry though - we will still have trophies and ctp prizes!

The Invitational was created to bring in all active or former College Disc Golf players. We’re also opening up to the public because, as college players know, this format deserves to be played by all.

This is a college style tournament with a bit of a twist. Traditionally, college events have teams of four sign up - they each play one singles round with the team average being posted as their score. Then, they play a team round of college-style doubles (here's how it works https://collegediscgolf.com/rules/ ). Female players, and players rated under 900 (MA3) will play some shorter tees in the singles round to keep things competitive with our random groupings.

For this event, everyone will sign up individually, and they will be paired with three other random people to create their team. RANDOM QUADS BABY!!! Your singles round will still go to your PDGA rating, but the team round does not affect you one way or another.

We will be playing the Snow Mountain Ranch course with only a few modifications (love me or hate me, I can't help but mess with a course). The course needs changes to fit a team style course, but I can't promise no changes during the singles round as well (insert potentially evil laugh noise here).

This event is only one day because I want to give everyone an excuse to get up to the mountains then give you an opportunity to get out into the mountains! There are beautiful hikes, wildlife, lakes, fishing, and much more to be explored!

As far as where to stay, there's plenty of camp sites, dispersed camping, and lodging in the area. The Viking Lodge in Winter Park has given us a sponsorship, so for anyone staying two or more nights, use code BASICALLYJUSTGOLF to get 20% off if you book through www.skiwp.com

This is a great opportunity to play our beloved college format with people you've only been competing against for years. I can't wait to see the team randomly made of BYU, CSU, CU, and UVU players try and take on the rest of the field!
