The NODGC is happy to host our 1st Lost and Found Budget Battle for Charity.
Here's the story: Our lost and found has had well over 1000 discs turned in over the last year. As a top 50 most played course in the US, City Park New Orleans collects some plastic. With all discs that have been collected, we as a club have reached out to the owners and attempted to return them. Since the collection of unwanted discs has grown to an unmanageable number, we wanted to find a way to get rid of the plastic, offer some competition, and benefit a great cause.
We will use a rating tier to establish a "budget" with monopoly money. Your $25 registration will earn you entry. Your budget will be established by your PDGA rating. If you do not have an active PDGA rating, we will use a Udisc Rating to establish the rating. (Udisc rating x2, plus 500)
Ratings Tiers and Budgets
<800 = $100
801 - 850 = $90
851 - 900 = $70
901 - 935 = $60
936 - 970 = $50
971+ = $40
All players will be limited to a maximum of 10 discs. The discs you "purchase" will be the only discs you may use for the round of play. After the event, these discs are yours to keep or do with as you please. Any discs remaining after the selection process will be sold with the proceeds going to charity or donated to local clinics, youth groups, or schools.
All players will have a 10 minute window to select their discs. The lowest rated players will have the first chance to pick their discs. The 4 lowest rated players will enter the selection area and will have 10 minutes to look through and "purchase" their discs. 5 minutes later, the next 4 players will enter the selection area and have 10 minutes to make their selections. A maximum of 8 players will be picking through discs at any given time. Discs will be marked with a price and each player will need to budget their bag for the round.
Once all players have made their selections, we will give hole assignments and score the round on UDISC.
There will be 1 "winner" who will choose from a list of GNO charities. The NODGC will donate 100% of all money raised through signups, disc sales, and other donations to the charity of the "winner's" choice.
We will have some other "funny business" such as mystery boxes for sale with the "budget money" that could be a box of KC rocs or it may be an actual box of rocks. Buyer Beware.
