About this tournament

Welcome to the 2026 Golden Sombrero Series of Ice Bowls! The Sombrero is back and flying high! The San Diego Aces are planning on holding several events in San Diego County, and there are several planned for the Inland Empire and L.A. Golden Sombrero Ice Bowls are charity fundraising events, collecting donations for our local food banks (exact charity may differ by event). Sombrero competitors receive 1 point for each player they beat at an event, with decorated sombreros as the prizes.
Our Morley Field Golden Sombrero event will be held on Sunday, February 15th. We will play a 1-round, shotgun start tournament, PDGA-sanctioned XC-Tier. We are NOT using mulligans at this event so you can get rated rounds, so please buy lots of raffle tickets! Every participant will receive a Golden Sombrero-stamped disc from Innova-Champion Discs and 5 raffle tickets. We have a large number of raffle prizes - 30+ discs, along with water bottles, towels, shirts, etc. There is also a new disc golf bag from Innova Disc Golf.
This tournament is a PDGA Competition Endowment Program (CEP) Charity event. There will be no trophies or payout so we can maximize the donation to the San Diego Food Bank - North County. The CEP program allows us to waive the $15 PDGA non-member fee, so if you're not a member or not current you can play this event without paying the extra fee. We will award 5 extra raffle tickets to each division winner.
Check-in will be from 7:00am-7:45am, players meeting at 7:45am and 8am shotgun start. We are playing the standard Morley Field layout - baskets will be in place all week before the event. No extra OB string or paint. Streets and parking lot are OB, sidewalk and beyond OB on holes 8,9,14. Over fences OB. Standard Morley mandatories in play.
The San Diego Aces will be holding a flex-start bag tag match in the afternoon, after the Ice Bowl is completed. There is no additional cost for the bag tag match, you just must be an SD Aces member. We will distribute bag tags at Dog Haus and Circle 1 shops - be sure to tell us which one!
