About this tournament

平Mike Ocon Memorial Open 2022平
On November 6th 2021 one of the founding fathers of Dutch Disc Golf passed away, while he was playing what he loved the most. Mike Ocon wasn’t just a player like you and me, he was a teacher, father, husband and a good friend. We all miss his enthusiasm on the course.
To honor him we decided to organize this tournament annual, because he meant a lot to so many players.
Date to remember: 20-11-2022
Location: Park Oudegein, Nieuwegein.
The format of the tournament:
2 rounds of 18 holes (main layout + 6 holes) max. nr. of players 72 (PDGA sanctioned)
Players fees + players pack:
Players fees for all players € 30,=
For this €30,= you receive a custom memorial stamped disc.
Players fees breakdown (40 players): € 30,= per payer= € 1200,= income.
PDGA fees € 50,= (€ 1,25 per player)
Park permit estimated € 50,= to € 75,= (€ 1,25 to € 1,88 per player)
Custom disc approx. € 17,50 per disc
Total expense per player € 20,63
Total expense € 20,63 x 40 = € 825,20
The money that remains is put it in a Dutch Disc golf Hall of Fame. In this Hall of Fame we honor people that meant a lot to the Disc Golf community.
From the 1st obstacles (lampposts) course in Euromastpark, Rotterdam to the 20+ basket courses we now have, we come a long way. I know that sinds the 80’s there are a lot of people that contributed a lot of there free time to let our sport grow to what it is now.
During this annual tournament one person is added to this prestigious Hall of Fame. With the money raised in this tournament we’re making a award for the Hall of Famers.
The first Hall of Famer that is added:
1. Mike Ocon #3129 (lowest number in NL)
You can nominate a player to be added every year. During this annual tournament all players get a vote for who to add to the Hall of Fame.
