About this tournament

This is the 5th of 7 events on the PDGA Asia Tour Powered by Yikun Discs and presented by Chain Disc Golf.
The course is in Jose V Yap Tarlac Sport and Recreation Park in San Jose just west of Tarlac, which in turn is a couple of hours north of Manila. Amateur players have lunch provided on all 3 days as well as a tournament disc and jersey. Pro players will get the option to pay for lunches and jersey. All players are invited to the players meeting and tournament party on Thursday evening with free food and drink. Non-residents of Saka Resort pay 150 pesos to enter.
Parts of the course are rocky and not suitable for a cart.
Typical day time high temperature is 30-32 Celsius (85 to 90 Fahrenheit) and rain is unlikely at this time of year.
We are experiencing difficulties with UDisc mapping, so please refer to caddy book and on course signage.

Accommodation
The closest hotel to the course is Saka Resort, it offers chalets and kubos and is15 minutes walk from the course. There's minimal catering on site, but you can get food delivered. Quote Lipad Pilipinas Disc Golf for 15% discount.
Westwood Hotel is a short drive, it is higher specification and has a good restaurant.
Al Amir Farm and Resort is also a short drive, it is more basic without catering. The above 3 hotels do not have any shops or restaurants within walking distance, so you might consider staying in the city of Tarlac, where La Maja Rica is centrally located, but 25-30 minutes drive from the course. We will arrange transport to and from the course during the tournament.

Travel
Air conditioned buses run from Five Star bus station Pasay near Manila Airport and take approximately 3 hours to Siesta Terminal Tarlac. The cost is 295 pesos which is about US$5. You will need to pay with cash. Taking a “Grab” (similar to Uber) from airport departures to Pasay will be much cheaper than a taxi from arrivals, maybe PHP 300 vs 1200 or more for a taxi.
If you are arriving at Clark International Airport we may be able to arrange pick up as it's only an hour from Tarlac.
The Tarlac Siesta bus station is just a few minutes walk from La Maja Rica hotel. There are no taxis in Tarlac, but you can easily get a ride in a “tricycle” ( motor cycle sidecar) around town, and for 300 they might take you as far as the course. but you are unlikely to get a ride back afterwards except by Jeepney. Luisa and I used to travel this way, and whilst we could fit inside the sidecar it was always a relief to get out.
The cheapest way to travel in Tarlac is by “Jeepney” from near the market to the entrance to the park, leaving you a 10 minute walk to the course itself. You can get a jeepney to the market for just 13 pesos and then 26 pesos to the course. Jeepneys are long wheelbase jeeps with a bench accommodating 7 people on each side, though they may cram in more than that!
Organisers may be able to help with rides, so you can ask, but I'm sure you will understand that we have things to do and places to be, so we may not be able to help.
Car hire is possible and will give you much more flexibility on travel to and from the course, as well as simplifying our logistics. We don't have any recommendations.

Activities
After your round you can take a dip in the swimming pool by the course for PHP150.
You can also hire a canoe for 2. I believe it’s PHP150 for 30 minutes

General Info on Philippines
Children all learn English in school, and it's also the language of business, so if you speak English you can get by OK in most situations. You can pay by credit card in larger stores and restaurants, but assume that you will need cash at kiosks and roadside vendors, and also on buses, jeepneys and tricycles. Most 7-11 stores have ATM's. The exchange rate is approx PHP 60 to one US Dollar
