About this tournament
PLAYERS MEETING NOTES:
Good afternoon to all players competing in the FIRST EVER High Plains Open at the High Plains Disc Golf Course on Saturday, July 19, 2025. High Plains DGC is located at the High Plains Community Center at 525 Orange Center Road in Orange, CT. The community center is accessible via Exit 56 off of the Merritt Parkway or Exit 41 via Interstate 95.
This is a two-round Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) sanctioned C-Tier. All PDGA rules are in effect. All players must keep score during each of the two rounds. The two-meter rule is NOT in effect.
This email is intended to serve as your players meeting and caddy guide, so read each item carefully. Below you'll find event information, as well as updated details on the steps we are taking to ensure everyone's safety in regards to COVID-19.
Anyone who has COVID-19, is exhibiting common symptoms of COVID-19, is ill, or is in direct contact with someone with COVID-19, must not participate and may be asked to leave the event. Social distancing of 6 feet between participants is strongly encouraged throughout the entirety of the event. Per the requirements of the State of Connecticut, all participants should utilize a mask or cloth face covering when in crowded areas. This would include Tournament Central, the practice baskets, and parking lots.

$55 per player broken down as follows:
- $3 to the PDGA
- $2 to New England Flying disc Association as part of the NEFA Points Series
- $3 TD Fee
- $47 to the payout
Amateur:
$45 per player broken down as follows:
- $3 to the PDGA
- $2 to New England Flying disc Association as part of the NEFA Points Series
- $3 TD Fee
- $5 (minimum) to amateur payouts via Dark Hollow Discs (in person or online voucher)
- Remainder to the player pack / event expenses (trophies, sanctioning, CTP's, etc)
- Player packs will consist of one premium plastic disc with custom artwork, one DX disc with custom artwork, and several other items.
CHECK-IN and SCHEDULE:
1. Upon arrival, please come to Tournament Central (located at the pavilion/ practice basket near the rear of High Plains Community Center) to check in. Please use the grass on both sides of the road near the pavilion before utilizing parking areas near the baseball fields or the paved lots by the community center building.
2. All amateurs will receive a players pack as noted above.
3. Preliminary hole assignments will be posted by 9pm, Friday, July 18, 2025. Final hole assignments will be posted on the PDGA tournament webpage for the event by 8:50am Saturday, July 19, 2025 after Check-In has closed.
4. There will be no players meeting, we will call two minutes at 8:58am and then start Round 1 promptly at 9:00am. Please be at your assigned starting hole by 8:55am.
5. Round 2 start time and hole assignments will be posted on the PDGA tournament webpage within 15 minutes of the last card completing Round 1. It is your responsibility to be at your hole on time for tee off for both rounds. If you are late, you will be penalized as per PDGA rule 1.05.F.

• 8:55am - Two Minute Warning
• 9:00am – Round 1 Tee Off
• 45 to 60 minutes after the last card in Round 1, we’ll begin Round 2

6. There is a $5 ace pot in effect. If an ace is hit by ANY player in ANY division, that player will receive 100% of the ace pot. If no aces are hit, we will have a throw off to determine the winner (likely to be Hole 1 but subject to change).

We'll be using the PDGA Digital Scorecard for the event. Please familiarize yourself with how to use the PDGA Digital Scorecard. Please note that each individual player will need to validate their score at the end of each round. The login code will be: hp2025
LAYOUTS:
• Round 1:
o All divisions will play the regular 18-hole layout. Note that Holes 3 and 4 have changed.
• Round 2:
o All divisions will play the regular 18-hole layout. Note that Holes 3 and 4 have changed.
• Sudden Death Playoffs - any division requiring a playoff to determine a winner will use the regular layout played for Round 2, repeating as necessary (i.e. Holes 1 through 18 in order).
COURSE INFO:
Please be mindful of all park goers when throwing - politely ask any park goers to move out of your way and always send up a spotter if people are nearby. All OB is marked by flags or ropes.
High Plains Disc Golf Course Rules
• Holes 1, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, and 18 … No OB. All streams are casual.
• Hole 2 – Road long of basket is OB. On or beyond asphalt pavement.
• Hole 3 – Tee shot must pass between double mandatory (first two trees in front of tee) as defined by double flags on left and right side. Mandatory plane is defined by flags extending to the left and right infinitely.
• Hole 4 - OB: right side along power line easement as defined by rope; road and beyond to left of basket
• Hole 7 - Rock wall past basket bordering 8’s fairway is OB. If over rock wall, play from last point in bounds. Over cell tower fence and within flagged area (fence and then around retaining wall) are OB. Play from last point in bounds. Play subsequent shot with a one throw penalty. If unsure about ruling, play provisional.
• Hole 8 – Rock wall on right side of fairway as defined by flags is OB. Take lie from last point in bounds with one stroke penalty.
• Hole 9 – river on right side of fairway is OB. Must be completely surrounded by water.
• Hole 14 – Tee shot MUST land in grass area. Road and beyond in all directions is OB. If drive is OB, proceed to drop zone with one stroke penalty. Drop zone is located by the storm drain in the grass. If OB on any subsequent throw, play from last point in bounds with one stroke penalty.
• Hole 15- All roads are OB. Vegetated area to the right beyond the “intersection” of the roads near Hole 14 tee is OB. Area to the left of the roads where Hole 15 basket is located is in bounds. If disc comes to rest OB on a road or beyond, proceed to drop zone with one stroke penalty. Flagged areas to the far left behind Hole 15 basket are OB – play from last point in bounds with one stroke penalty.
AWARDS AND PAYOUTS:
Following the conclusion of Round 2 we will acknowledge the top three finishers in each division. Cash payouts for all pro divisions will be handled via PayPal and will be distributed no later than two business days following the conclusion of the event (Tuesday, July 22 2025). Vouchers for merchandise payouts for all amateur divisions will be handled via Dark Hollow Discs and will be distributed no later than two day business days following the conclusion of the event (Tuesday, July 22, 2025). All division winners will receive a trophy (artwork) courtesy of Devon Splatters (Devon Coughlin).
FINAL PSA:
• This is a PDGA C-Tier event - all PDGA rules are in effect.
• The two-meter rule is NOT IN EFFECT.
• If there are any questionable circumstances on the course, play a provisional and a determination will be made by the TD.
• All players on each card MUST KEEP SCORE. Acceptable scoring methods include the PDGA Live App and a paper scorecard. Paper cards will be made available at tournament central. UDisc is NOT an accepted scoring method.
• Please double check your digital scorecards before you submit them - there’s a 2-stroke penalty for incorrect scorecards.
• If you are not planning to attend, please note that if you do not notify the TD prior to the start of check-in, you will NOT be entitled to a refund or your players pack.

Amateur player packs will consist of at least one 2025 FCDC Custom Event Disc. FCDC is coordinating with Drew Mullen Art and andHOW* graphics (Dave Condon and Drew Morrison) to create three unique but coordinated custom disc stamps that will be available throughout the year at each of our events.
Disc 1 will be designed by Drew Mullen and incorporates course details from Waveny Park and Cranbury Park. Disc 1 will be available later this year at the Cranbury Classic in October and at least one other event (either the Sherwood Island Open or the Park City Open) in September. Disc 1 will be designed by Drew Mullen.
Disc 2 will be designed by Dave Condon and incorporates course details from Fairfield University, Veterans Memorial Park in Bridgeport, and Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Disc 2 will be available at the Fairfield University Open and Brewport Open (July 13, 2025).
Disc 3 has been designed by Drew Morrison and incorporates course details from High Plains Park and Bittner Park. Disc 3 was available at the Bittner Park Open and Bittner Park Ice Bowl, and will be available at the High Plains Open (July 19, 2025).
Additional discs will be made available later this year at late 2025/early 2026 FCDC events to potentially be held at Bittner Park, Fairfield University, High Plains Park, and Cranbury Park.
TD fees enable FCDC to provide high quality events each year, and help to off-set administrative and vendor costs.
Course information will be provided by July 1, 2025 but is subject to change.
PDGA Digital Scoring will be in play; instructions on how scoring will work for the event will be sent out to the field prior to the event.
Ace Pot
Ace pot will be in effect. Optional $5 buy-in. If no aces hit, all players in ace pot will throw off for 100% of total.
CTP prizes to be determined
