About this tournament

The Foxwood Open was originally scheduled for the May 'two-four' long weekend here in Ontario. The tournament has been rescheduled for the August 29-30 weekend and now has PDGA sanctioning again.

The event will still be a USDGC qualifying tournament, Innova Disc Golf - has given our tournament 5 USDGC spots to award.

Our host, Golf North - Foxwood Golf and Country Club is very excited to have us all there and will be doing everything possible to ensure the course is in great shape and that we can all play safely. In 2019 Foxwood built the Big White disc golf course. The course has been so popular that they decided to build a second 18 hole layout, Big Red in 2020.

The Foxwood Open will be using both layouts. All players will play one round on Big White and two rounds on Big Red.

The tournament is now also sponsored by Explore Waterloo, they have stepped up to be the title sponsor and are making a generous contribution to ensure the event is a success this year and going forward in 2021. We have many other sponsors too.

Innova Disc Golf and Grand River Disc Golf are working together to bring this event to the Waterloo region. The tournament will showcase the challenging and beautiful Foxwood Disc Golf Course. We are making some minor changes to the existing Big White layout, harder in some spots, easier in others, especially for the more recreational but still competitive divisions.

Each player will enjoy two rounds of golf on Saturday and one round of golf on Sunday. All tee offs will be scheduled. On Saturday we will not be ranking players between rounds. You will be playing with the same people for both rounds on Saturday.

We are using a ratings based registration system for amateur players. This system allows all players of similar skill to play together regardless of age or gender. The goal being to create divisions that will be larger and more competitive, which has the added benefit of diversifying the group of people you typically compete against. Larger divisions have proportionately larger payouts too.

The courses will be available for play before the tournament. You will need to book tee times for practice rounds. We will be setting the courses up formally on the Thursday morning, painted OB's and the like.

The tournament is sold out.
