About this tournament
This event is a charity event to help raise money to fight Alzheimer’s, TLD is an fundraising event that the Alzheimer’s Association performs around/on June 21st, since it is the day that has the most light. The Longest Day (TLD) is an event that fights the darkness of Alzheimer’s through an activity to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. With the registration being at $55 we are donating 60% of that money to the Alzheimer’ Association our goal is to raise $2,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. The other 40% of the registration is going towards the player’s pack.
Player Pack - For this event Infinite Discs are helping and sponsoring this event. The players pack will include a custom stamped disc from Infinite discs. The tournament stamped discs will be on both Thought Space Athletics and Infinite Discs for a variety of amazing molds.
Cards- If you want to be on a specific card with friends, message me or leave it in the notes section when registering and we will try our best to make it happen (up to 4 people per card) Deadline is 1 week prior to the event.
Ace Pot- We will have an optional $5 ace pot available. If multiple people hit an ace, it will be split equally(ONLY IF YOU HAVE BOUGHT IN). If no aces are hit, the ace pot will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association. I am donating $150 of my own money to get the ace pot started so let’s build this ace pot up.
Awards- We will have awards for only 1st place of each division.
More information about TLD: Funds raised will directly benefit the acceleration of critical research of Alzheimer’s. After more than 100 years from the initial discovery of Alzheimer’s disease, it wasn’t until 2021 that a drug was developed that actually targets the disease and not just symptoms! So at last, we are in the era of treatment! And, it wasn’t until Jan 6th, 2023 (this year!!) that the FDA approved Lecanemab, that is proven to be the most effective treatment yet - a 27% decrease in the rate of cognitive decline if taken early enough. There are 2 other treatments in the pipeline with even greater success, but unfortunately, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid) have declined to cover ANY of the costs for any of the treatments): this has never happened before. It costs over $20,000 a year, so hardly anyone can afford this treatment that could potentially extend their life and independence by years.
