About this tournament

The First Annual Danville Disc Golf Championship will be a points driven tournament consisting of 4 skills based events that include; putting, long drive, midrange and a skills round. Each event will have a champion as well as an overall champion who gathered the most points between the 4 events. Your registration enters you into each event as well as breakfast and lunch being provided.

This will be amateur only. Event though it is not a sanctioned PDGA event, you must be under 970 rated and classified as Amateur. This is also a trophy only event. The trophies are flippin' sweet though. They are laser engraved crystal glass trophies standing 9" x 5" and weighing a little over 2 lbs.

All order of play for the events will be randomly selected prior to the day of the tournament. This order is not subject to change. When its your turn, you throw.

Overall Winner
Kind of like the decathlon in the Olympics players will receive points based on how you finish in each event below. Most points combined wins the Overall Championship.

Skills Round
Testing your overall disc golf skills in a variety of disciplines during a round. Roughly half the holes you will pay normal stroke play with a given point structure. The other half you'll be asked to use a particular disc(s) or a particular shot(s) to complete the hole for points. One example: You get 3 drives in which you must throw at least one backhand and one forehand. The goal is to land within circles of 5, 10 and 20 meters from the basket. Points are given or each circle. This hole shows accuracy in two types of throwing styles. The goal of the entire skills round is to demonstrate the best all-around and most consistent disc golf skills in one given round. Most points wins.

Putting
You will have a given amount of time to take 2 putts from various locations around the basket. Points will vary based on distance from basket between 15' - 60'. Most points wins.

Midrange
You will have 2 throws from 6 different locations on the course between 125-250' to the basket. Points are scored based upon your shot from the basket within circles of 5, 10, 20 meters. Top 3 points totals battle in the final throw off to determine winner.

Long Drive
Throw TBD number of drives with totals being based on distance minus accuracy. Distance from the center line will be subtracted from your overall distance. Best total distance wins.

As a note, since I've received this question, what are you doing with the money raised? If it's full there should be roughly $300-400 raised (current estimate - minus cost of trophies, lunch, breakfast, drinks, etc). This will go into the Danville Disc Golf account with the main goal of using it for a B tier next year as a step toward added cash and merchandise. If we're unable to do that, we may use it to buy a Danville Disc Golf mold of discs for additional fundraising or for upcoming league/member only payout. There are other things we're tossing around as well.
