Disc golf tournaments are an excellent way to grow the sport and bring people with common interests together. Tournaments are regularly hosted across the 515 but rarely occur at Stable Run in Ames. With new leadership in the Iowa State Disc Golf Club, we aim to change that. Hosting an event on-campus will provide an excellent opportunity for more students to join our club. Additionally, this event will serve as a fundraiser for the Iowa State Disc Golf Club’s trip to the Collegiate National Championship in Marion, NC.
The Cyclone Flex Start Fundraiser is a PDGA sanctioned event falling within the XC tier classification(standard singles format, rounds will be rated). We will offer both pro and amateur divisions.
Competition will adhere to the rules outlined in the PDGA's Official Rules of Disc Golf and Competition Manual for Disc Golf Events. This means non-current PDGA members who intend to participate will have to register with the PDGA or pay a mandatory $10 non-member fee, reflected on the registration page (active 2/26).
All of the money collected from registration will go directly to the Iowa State Disc Golf Club. 25% of registration will go to payouts. An event t-shirt will be included with registration.
Stable Run is an excellent course with great hole variety, we’re looking forward to creating a competitive disc golf environment for students and non-students alike. Keep an eye out for future events hosted by the club.
