Welcome to the 1st Annual Crown Town Matchplay presented by Scorpion Disc Golf. This is an 8-week event with 3-4 weeks of playoffs.
Match play is what led to the start of Scorpion! It's a blast and we wanted to give ALL players in Charlotte the opportunity to compete in this style of event.
If you're unfamiliar with matchplay, here's where it differs. Instead of normal stroke play you will be matched up with a single opponent. You'll both play the hole, and whoever scored the least strokes that hole, wins the hole and are now "Up 1". If you tie, the hole is a wash and you continue to the next. Whoever ends the round with the most won holes, wins the match. Birdies, pars, bogeys, none of it matters, just hope by hole against your opponent.
If you've followed along with the Spring Matchplay, you'll notice that each team had an associated course. We differ in the fact that no team will have a set "Home" course. Each team will travel through 8 courses here in the area. The home team each week will select a 12 hole layout for everyone to play.
Players will answer questions on their skill level and be drafted by captains. The questionnaire will include whether or not you'd like to be a captain. This questionnaire will be sent out after you register. We will send out links as well for players to create a "Pick me video". Be as accurate, creative, or funny as you want!
At the end of the regular season there will be playoffs and an eventual champion. The top finishing team will be receiving a cash payout!
The regular season will be 8 weeks long and we'll have 4 weeks of playoffs, depending how many people sign up.
Once registration closes, we'll get a final payout tally and post the payouts. We will also be looking at getting an annual trophy made so the team name/members can be listed every year.

Yes, we are playing for money and potentially other things. HOWEVER, this is about having fun and getting to know people all over Charlotte and competing together! You will have the opportunity to be teamed up with people you do and do not know and most likely playing against people you have never had the opportunity to compete against before. We can't wait to see what this grows to and I'm sure more things will be announced as we get this going!
