About this tournament
1 round of play
This event is for Crossover Crew members only for the 2023 season. "March Madness" brings out the bracket fans near and wide for the college basketball playoff.
We are going to experiment and do our own "Crossover Crew Spring Bracket Challenge 2023".
Ok, first things first. Brackets play can be fun. Brackets can also be frustrating and end up losing steam. If you can't commit to playing ONE match every week, then it is probably best to sit this one out. Any matches that are dormant for 2 weeks, both players will be eliminated and the player waiting will recieve a bye. No one wants that to happen. So please only sign up if you have the availability and interest to commit to playing.
Format - Single Elimination Match Play. Each match should be played at a course agreed upon by both players. Please find a compromise for the course (location and skill level). For those who aren't familiar with Match Play. It is different than Stroke Play (total score). Each hole played is either tied/halved or won by a player. For instance, on hole 1, Player A cards a 2 and Player B cards a 3. Player A is now "1 up". This continues until there is a winner. The great thing with Match Play is that if you have a bad hole or two, you aren't doomed, because your total score doesn't matter.
We will seed players based on PDGA ratings. Any players who are tied with the same rating, the nod will go to the player with the longest established PDGA # as the tie breaker.
For this bracket challenge, we are going to keep it simple. It is $5 to play ($3 to payouts/$2 to Crossover). There are only 3 divisions. If you are classified as "pro", you sign up in MPO. If you are classified as an "amatuer", you sign up for MA1. The third division is just for Female players. We will pay out approximiately the top 25%, and give out tags for these players. It depends on number of playeres. That could be the Final Four, or Elite 8. Again, based on numbers. More info will be posted when the field is set.
If this event goes smoothly, we will do another round of bracket challenges this summer that could have other divisions to help with the wide gap in players we have in The Crew. We can definitely explore double elimination for that one.
Please sign up by 3/8. We will start on 3/12 when the time changes.
