About this tournament
Looking for more tournaments hosted at UNC? Craving more unique format events and team events?
We're initiating a new annual fundraising event this year that will allow you and your closest friends to register as a team and challenge the UNC Chapel Hill collegiate disc golf team on our home turf! The 2024 iteration of UNC disc golf brought home the Division 1 Women's singles national title (Kelly White) and the Division 2 Men's team national title (Mitchell Massey, Luke Shehee, Jasper Tyll, and Dylan Youngberg).
This year the team is taking more strides forward including an average team rating of 981 for our top squad and the continued success of Jasper Tyll as the newly crowned USDGC Distance competition champion!
Registration is $15 per player, with each team ideally registering a team of 4 players in the MPO division and 2 players in the FPO division. There will be some players pack items from sponsors and the options to purchase discs at reduced cost. If you don't have a team or if your team is short a player or two, please reach out to tournament staff (Adam Luthman, [email redacted]) and I will do my best to pair up stragglers!
Come challenge the Men's and Women's teams in two rounds at the UNC disc golf course under the collegiate format. There will be two rounds, shotgun start.
Round 1 - 9:00 am start, Team alternating doubles format (college doubles format). Players A and B tee of on the odd holes, choose the best lie from which Players C and D will throw second shots. Choose the best lie and alternate back and forth between pair A/B and C/D until the hole is complete. The order is reversed for even holes with pair C/D teeing off and pair A/B throwing second shots, etc.
Round 2 - 1 hour after last card (probably close to 1 pm), Regular pairs doubles. Split your team into 2 groups of 2 for this round. Each pair within your team will play with a pair from another team. Scores will either be averaged or added to contribute to the overall team scores to determine a champion.
It is possible we convert round 2 into another round of team format doubles depending on registration numbers as this format allows us to fit more people onto the course.
