About this tournament
3 rounds of play
I started Chains and Grains because I love playing disc golf and I love brewing beer. Through the disc golf and the homebrew communities I have met tons of awesome people so I figured I should create an event that could bring all these people together. This event started as one day where we had a disc golf tournament that was followed by a small beer festival where everyone tried the different homebrew's and voted for their favorites. Below I am just going to list what and when things are happening and give notes on each thing.
Friday 6/12
Initial Set up: Starting at Noon we will be getting things set up at the course so feel free to come help. If you plan to camp this is a good time to come out and pick a campsite and check out the layout we are setting up for the glow round.
Glow: Since Chains and Grains is in June this year we won't be able to run an official Space Race, so we are doing our own version! With sign up you will have the choice of a Chains and Grains Glow disc. This disc you will have to use for the Ace Race. You are going to need 2 discs so for the second disc you can bring what ever glow disc you would like. We will be setting up an 18 hole course around the barn. All of the holes will range between 100 and 200 feet. The holes will be shorter because the scores are based on a point system not how many shots you take. Each player has two throws per hole and players earn one point for metal, three points for a chain hit and five points per ace – most cumulative points wins. This will be a two round event, first being right before dark and the second being after dark. Since the players are only throwing off the tee and the holes are shorter the rounds will be quite quick.
Saturday 6/13
Chains and Grains Unsanctioned Tournament: This is the main tournament of the weekend, normal 18 holes at 3 Creeks. Mulligans will be available for purchase, optional ace pot to buy into. Beer will be available on the course. Cash prizes for the top players in the MPO field, gift cards will be given to the top players in their amateur divisions. Trophies will be given to the best scoring Male and Female players. This year I am making a little adjustment to registration. I know not everyone drinks beer so I don't want to make people pay for something they don't want. So I have split up the pricing so if you don't want beer you don't have to pay for it.
Homebrew Competition: If you are a homebrewer and are interested in bringing beer for the competition please reach out to me. Anyone that brings a keg/bottles of homebrew to share and enter into the competition will receive a $15 discount into the event. Everyone that comes to the event will receive 2 tickets they will use to vote for their favorite homebrew's. Top hombrewers will receive prizes. The best homebrewer will receive a trophy.
Other activities: We will have a pitch and putt course set up for those that want to keep throwing discs while hanging out and trying the homebrews.
Sunday 6/14
Start of Cecil County 6 week Sanctioned league
Other Notes:
Food: We will have food available for purchase on Saturday after the tournament. Menu TBD.
Custom Stamped Discs are available for purchase.
