Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Lobdell Reserve in Alexandria, Ohio
Disc golf singles tournament

About this tournament

We are back with the 2022-2023 Central Ohio Winter Series (C.O.W.S.) This year we will kick the series off in December and it will run through February.

Each event will be two rounds, shotgun start as in previous years. We will be doing all payouts via Paypal as all divisions are paid in cash. You may get paid out after each event, or get your total payout at the end of the series. All results with payouts will be posted on the event pages and we will track payouts online.

The divisions are set up the same as last year and are based on PDGA ratings:

D1- Gold [Rating 975 & Up]
D2 - Blue [Rating 925-974]
D3 - White [Rating 875-924]
D4 - Red [Rating 825-874]
D5 - Green [Rating 775-824]
D6 - Purple [Rating 774 & Under]

Players that do not have a current rating will play their first event in D4 or above (if your division or level of skill is known). If it is determined that you are in the incorrect division you will be allowed to move to the correct division for the rest of the series.

Entry Fee ($35) Breakdown:

Payout - $20.00
Fundraiser - $10.00
Point Series - $3.00
Ace Fund - $2.00 (Will rollover from event to event.)

All players are entered into the ace fund and all divisions are paid out in cash. We do have an additional ace fund that is an optional buy-in for each event. Introducing the Mega Ace, the mega ace is an optional $5 ace fund (please select this option if you wish to enter during registration) that will carry over from event to event. Both ace funds will be paid out by the end of the series. If there is an ace fund left after the final event, we will have throw-offs to pay out the ace fund(s).

The points system will also be the same as last year. Points will be awarded on your finishing position as opposed to the number of players that you beat. I noticed in previous years you just had to finish in the top at the larger events to win or cash in the series and it made some of the smaller events nearly irrelevant. Points from your top 5 events will count towards your overall total and you must play in at least 4 events to qualify for the point series. This helps people who can't make every event as well as the people that do not have a rating as their points may not carry over from their first event if they have to move divisions (points will not transfer between divisions.)

As in the past, this series is geared towards raising money for improvements for our local courses. Prior years' events have funded the following projects over the past couple of years:

Kinslow DGC
-New Pin Positions on Several Holes
-New Tee Signs
-New Locks for Baskets
-Rehabbing/Repainting the Bands on the Baskets
-Help with New Tee Pads (huge thanks to the Columbus Flyers for funding the concrete for this project)
-Tee signs for the long tee pads. (coming soon)

Jeremy Lewis Memorial
-Footbridges over Creeks/Ditches Throughout the Course

Delaware State Park Campground Course
-New Tee Signs
-Relocating Two Pin Positions/Baskets
-New Locks for Baskets

Please consider joining us for some or all of our events and help raise money and improve our courses throughout central Ohio. Also remember if you help maintain or know of a course that could use some help, please reach out as we are always looking to help fund new projects.
