About this tournament

Welcome to the 2026 Catalpa Open! Returning to the iconic Lake Township Park in Bridgman, Michigan, this year’s event promises a high-stakes weekend of competition on one of Southwest Michigan’s most technical layouts. Hosted by the Sand Ridge Disc Golf Club, the Catalpa Open continues to be a premier stop for players looking to test their skills against the demanding elevation and unique sandy terrain of our championship course.

This year, we are excited to offer a split-day tournament format, providing maximum flexibility and more opportunities to compete. Each day functions as a completely separate sanctioned event. This unique structure allows you to play in one division on Saturday and then change divisions to compete in an entirely different category on Sunday. Whether you want to "play up" for the challenge one day and join your standard division the next, or simply get two tournament rounds in a single weekend, the choice is yours.

The course at Sand Ridge is in top form, with continued investments in fairways and infrastructure to ensure a professional experience for every competitor. From the tight, wooded lines that require extreme precision to the open stretches where you’ll need to battle the wind, this layout is designed to be a fair but grueling test of your complete game.

Registration for both days of the 2026 Catalpa Open officially opens, March 2nd, at 7:00 PM EST. Because each day is a separate event, spots are expected to fill quickly. Be sure to have your divisions picked out and be ready at the jump to secure your place in the field. We look forward to seeing the community back at the course this June!

How It Works: Split-Day Format
To help everyone navigate the registration process, here is a breakdown of how the two-day split format for the 2026 Catalpa Open works:

Two Separate Sanctioned Events: Saturday and Sunday are run as two distinct PDGA-sanctioned B-Tier tournaments. This means you will receive two separate player ratings and two opportunities to earn PDGA points in a single weekend.

Maximum Division Flexibility: You have the freedom to choose your division for each day independently. For example, you can play in a competitive Age-Protected division on Saturday and "play up" into the MPO or MA1 division on Sunday.

Individual Registration Required: Because each day is a standalone event, you must register for each day separately on Disc Golf Scene. If you want to play both days, ensure you secure a spot for Saturday and a spot for Sunday during the registration window.

Separate Payouts and Player Packs: Trophies, payouts, and player packs are managed for each individual day. Playing both days essentially means you are competing in two back-to-back tournaments at the same venue.

Two Rounds Per Day: Each daily event consists of two full rounds on the championship layout at Lake Township Park. Players will compete in a morning round and an afternoon round to crown a winner for that day’s event.

Refund policy

Sand Ridge Disc Golf Club is responsible for all refunds and cancellations.

This refund and withdrawal policy for the 2026 Catalpa Open follows the standards outlined in Section 1.03 of the PDGA Competition Manual. Because the Catalpa Open is structured as two separate sanctioned events, all withdrawal and refund requests will be processed independently for each day.

Official Withdrawal Process
All requests for withdrawal must be made by contacting the Tournament Director directly through the "Withdraw/Refund" button on the Disc Golf Scene registration page or via the email address provided in your registration confirmation. Withdrawals via social media, text, or word-of-mouth will not be considered official.

14 Days Prior to Close of Registration: Players who request to withdraw within 14 days of the event up until the published close of registration will receive a 100% monetary refund (minus a $10 handling fee) only if their spot is filled by a player on the waitlist.
