About this tournament
1 round of play
The Canadian Women's Event (CWE) is a series of tournaments to celebrate Canadian women in disc golf. CWE's across Canada will take place in the months of May and June, and a Canadian ranking system will be created for all participants and national trophies awarded. This year, I am proud to offer a CWE held right here, in Canmore!
If you have never played disc golf before, or just began throwing, a tournament might seem like an impossible or intimidating event. However, this event is more about celebrating women's accomplishment in sport, our disc golf journey and getting to meet more female disc golfers than competing. For anyone who has participated in a "fun run", "Foam" or "Mud" event, this will have a similar feel.
Your round score will be uploaded along with other participants from across the country, which may qualify you for a national award in your age category or skill level. There will be prizes and trophies awarded at the local level for all ages and skill levels, as well as an amazing players pack! The CWE players pack contains a premium plastic, custom stamped tournament (Triology) disc, an event mini, a custom pair of Tee Box Sox with event logo, a custom enamel event pin and a bag tag with all of this year's events listed on it. There will be additional cash and additional items and treats added to the player's packs (based on fundraising efforts). It's impossible to buy these items for the cost of entry to the event ($60). If you are interested in an additional player's pack, I will contact you to make these arrangements at cost.
In addition to the great players pack, we will have prizing for other events in the afternoon. Everyone will play one round of disc golf (from either the short black bear tees or the long turf pads) in the morning and then there will be optional disc golf activities with prizes in the afternoon. Things like longest drive, a putting competition and a ring of fire as well as a few other surprises. There are limited lunch options available as well as other events happening that day, so you are encouraged to bring a packed lunch to ensure you have time to eat between rounds. Water will be available throughout the course all day. Please bring a refillable water bottle to help lessen our carbon footprint and carpool if possible. Please note that a valid Kananaskis parking pass is needed at a cost of $15/day if you don’t have a yearly pass (2 cars for $90)
.
This event is funded by local businesses in the Bow Valley, the CWE Committee, and PDGA Canada. The $15 non-membership fee for non-PDGA members was waived for this event as well. We will have fun activities, washrooms, laughter, photos and make great memories together!
I will also require some volunteers to assist with the event. I will need a few spotters on certain holes to keep an eye out for discs as well as a few volunteers familiar with the course and scoring on PDGA Live to assist new players. We do have some water on the course and a few discs made need retrieval. Runners for CTP flags, caddies, and other duties will be essential to help the day run smoothly. Shirts will be provided for all volunteers and volunteer hours for any high school students.
Please share this event with your friends and family, and help us make history! You don't want to miss being a part of this event. All ages and skill levels welcome.
