About this tournament

Welcome to Brews or Baskets!

Brews or Baskets is a weekly league that takes place at Fit-Fort, the pitch and putt course at Fortnight Brewery in Cary, NC. This season the league will be unsanctioned, with a different "theme" each week, outlined below. Entry fee is $10 (fee breakdown below).

Tee times available from 4pm-8:30pm

Fit-Fort is short, but it has teeth! Expect tight fairways with plenty of challenging OB, mandos, and islands that will test anyone's short game. The standard layout is a 10 hole loop, which is played 3 times for a total of 30 holes. Temp holes are occasionally added for fun and variety.

$10 Entry (onsite registration accepted)

Week 3 Details:
============
Metal madness! (no putting required!)

The ace pot will pay out for holes 6, 8, and 10.

CTPs on holes 1, 4, and 8.

We will use a special layout created for the event - Metal Madness. To make UDisc leaderboards work correctly, and ensure things like aces can be recorded correctly, every hole is set as a par 6.

Metal Madness Rules
================
You will throw one disc per hole, from the normal teepad. No followup putts or throws. Points are scored as follows:

No Metal Hit - 6 strokes (par)
Pole - 5 strokes (-1)
Hit Band or Cage - 3 strokes (-3)
Hit Chains - 2 strokes (-4)
Ace - 1 stroke (-5)

# All mandos are STILL in play!
# Skips and deflections DO COUNT for scoring.
# You score the SINGLE BEST result on each hole (Hitting more than one metal part in one throw does not stack)
# The lock/sleeve of the basket count as "pole".
# The circular metal base of the basket on 10 does NOT count as "pole". This will be a card decision on whether you hit the pole. If it is not conclusive, advantage to the thrower. C'mon, it's hard enough to hit metal on that basket!
# The wooden barrels below the baskets on hole 5 and 10 sit on do NOT count for points. There is essentially no "pole" on hole 5.
# Any metal hit that may be touching the basket, but is not reasonably considered "part of the basket" does NOT count for scoring. Use common sense, or come find the TD for a ruling.
# If you hit metal and then roll OB, that is OK!

Ex: Your throw hits chains AND the cage. You score a 2 for hitting chains, as that is your best result.
Ex: Your disc deflects off a tree, skids along the ground, and hits the LOCK or the SLEEVE of the pole. You score a 5 because your disc hit the pole.
Ex; Your disc hits the wooden barrel on 5, but does NOT hit the cage. You score a 6 because the wooden barrel does NOT count.
Ex: On hole 10, your disc hits the circular metal base on the basket, just missing the pole. You score a 6 because the base is not part of the pole. Your card will have to make a call on whether you actually hit the pole.
Ex: a CTP flag is sticking up from the basket and your throw hits it on the way by, barely missing the band. You score a 6 because the flag does NOT count as metal for scoring.
Ex: You hit chains on hole 3, the disc hits the ground and rolls OB. You score a 2 because you hit chains, and where the disc finishes is not a factor.
Ex: You hit metal on Hole 6 but miss one side of the double mando. You score a 6 because the mandos are still in play, so your metal hit does not count!

Weekly Themes
============
Week 1 - "Open Bar" (open bag)
Week 2 - "Flying Solo" (one disc only)
Week 3 - "Metal Madness" (points for metal hits)
Week 4 - "Designated Driver" (drivers only, 7 speed+)
Week 5 - "Jungle Juice" (safari layout)
Week 6 - "Ssendam Odnam" (reversed mandos and islands)
Week 7 - "One Too Many" (opposite hand off the tee)
Week 8 - "Rare Styles" (unique disc only)
Week 9 - "Wingmen" (teams of 3, lowest aggregate score)
Week 10 - "On the House” (any ace takes an additional stroke off your score)

(^) Because aces are very gettable, the ace pot pays out only on holes 8 and 10 (hardest to ace), and a random additional hole each week, which will be announced.

We are using UDisc Events for live scoring. You must check in to the UDisc event and create your card in the league or it will not count!
