About this tournament
This will be a one round, non-sanctioned, bring-your-own-partner doubles event with two divisions: Recreational will play short tees and compete for merchandise. Advanced will play long tees and compete for cash.
PLAYERS’ PACKS will be a disc from Gateway for all players along with an Eleanor Roosevelt campaign pin.
PAYOUTS & VENDING will be available from KP’s personal stash, including discs, bags and accessories.
ACE FUND will be set at $100 and will go toward the player(s) that hit the elusive hole-in-one. Should multiple players ring up an ace, the pot will be split evenly. If no one hits an ace, everyone may throw off for HALF the amount collected ($50) at the end of the round. The rest will go toward course improvements.
CTPs & LONGEST PUTT will be offered on hole #3, #6 and #12. Each of these holes will offer the chance for players to earn a prize for themselves AND their partner. This is included in entry fees. If you end your round on a hole with a prize attached, please pull the flag and return it to tourney central.
FORMAT will rotate based on the holes that are played. Starting holes do not change how the doubles rules will be implemented. Everyone will play the same holes with the same format to maintain an even playing field.
Holes #1 through #6 – Best Score: Both teammates play the holes individually and card the best score. Example: Player A knocks down a birdie and Player B takes a bogey. The team records a birdie on the hole.
Holes #7 through #12 – Best Shot: Traditional doubles format. Both teammates shoot from each lie and take the shot they deem to be the best. Players may split lies and work together to earn the best score.
Holes #13 through #18 – Alternate Shot: Teams decide who will tee off on their first hole in this stretch and from that point on, take turns from each lie. Example: Player A tees off, Player B makes an approach, Player A sinks a putt, meaning Player B will have to tee off on the next hole.
TIES will be decided by a playoff for top teams in each division. Teams will loop holes #1 to #4 playing alternate shot doubles until a winner is decided. Recreational players will continue to throw from short tees while Advanced players use longs.
REGISTRATION will be final once it closes on Disc Golf Scene. No refunds will be provided after that time. Registered players that cannot make the event may have their players' pack shipped via USPS after the event has concluded.
CARDS will be formatted the day before the tournament and published to Disc Golf Scene. A physical board will be in place at tournament central the day of the event. As this is an unsanctioned event, players may select their card mates and starting holes. Teams that do not select a card by the time registration has closed will be assigned at random.
Please contact your TD to arrange cards and pick a starting point. Cards will include two teams for a total of four players on each hole for a shotgun start. This will be first come, first serve. All players must be registered for the event prior to claiming cards. Teams from both divisions may play together if desired.
GENERAL RULES…
No 2-meter rule is in play. Discs that come to rest in a tree may be marked below without penalty.
Any standing water on fairways is casual. Players may opt to take relief behind the disc on the line of play without penalty.
Rulings in question are brought to the attention of the group for a decision based on PDGA rules. Benefit of the doubt goes to the player. If a ruling cannot be decided by the group, bring it to the attention of the tournament director. That decision will be final.
CADDY BOOK:
#1 – Road and beyond is OB. Gulley, as marked by stakes, is OB.
#2 – Road and beyond is OB.
#3 – ISLAND HOLE: Any drive that does not come to rest in bounds results in a penalty stroke and the player to throw from the drop zone provided. Any subsequent shots that land out of bounds results in an additional penalty stroke and the player to take a lie within one meter from where it was last in bounds.
#5 – Drives must cross Buffalo Creek to be considered in bounds. Road and beyond is OB. Drives that land OB will proceed to marked drop zone on bridge with a one-stroke penalty. Subsequent throws that land OB left of fairway or long of green as marked by stakes are OB, resulting in a penalty stroke and the player to take a lie within one meter from where the disc was last in bounds.
#6 – ISLAND HOLE: Any drive that does not come to rest in bounds results in a penalty stroke and the player to throw from the provided drop zone. Any subsequent shots that land out of bounds results in an additional penalty stroke and the player to take a lie within one meter from where it was last in bounds.
#7 – Road and beyond is OB.
#9 – Any disc fully supported by rock, marked by painted line, results in the team adding one stroke and finishing the hole. For example, if a drive comes to rest on top of the rock, the team cards a 2. There is to be no putting from the rock. Players with a portion of their disc supported by the rock may opt to take casual relief behind their disc on the field of play without penalty.
#11 – Road and beyond is OB.
#13 - ISLAND HOLE: Any drive that does not come to rest in bounds results in a penalty stroke and the player to throw from the drop zone provided. Any subsequent shots that land out of bounds results in an additional penalty stroke and the player to take a lie within one meter from where the disc was last in bounds.
#15 – Sidewalk and beyond left is OB. Line right and long marked by paint or stakes is OB. Surrounded by water is OB.
#16 – Discs surrounded by water are OB.
#18 – Discs inside the fenced areas of the baseball fields are OB.
