Player’s Meeting- BSB April Fool’s Tournament (4/3/21)
Hello All!
Thank you for signing up to play in the BSB April Fool’s Tournament sponsored by Yeet Street Disc Golf on April 3, 2021 at O.T. Sloan Park! This email is to serve as a virtual player’s meeting in lieu of COVID-19 restrictions. Please read over this email carefully and pay careful attention to the end of the email. You will be asked to fill out a virtual survey form to sign off on a “COVID-19 Waiver,” as mandated by the PDGA.
Arrival and Tournament Central (7:30am-8:30 am)
OT Sloan Park is located at 1420 Bragg St, Sanford, NC 27330. We ask that everyone park in the main lower lot next to the basket for Hole 1, as this allows for plenty of space for all tournament participants to park and still allow access for the general public to the dog park. We have reserved the park for the day from Lee County Parks and Rec, but the dog park in between Hole 9 and 10 will still be open for the general public, so please park using the main park entrance and lot.
Tournament Central will be under the picnic pavilion on the upper level across from the dog park, in between Hole 9 and 10. You will report here once you arrive to check in and get your player’s pack. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE STAIRS IN BETWEEN HOLE 1 AND 18 TO ACCESS TOURNAMENT CENTRAL. These stairs are rotting and highly unsafe, so we ask that all players use the fairway of Hole 18 and Hole 2 to access Tournament Central. This pavilion is also where you will get your paper scorecard, check the leaderboard, and receive awards/raffle.
Once you finish checking in, you will get your player’s pack. Part of your player’s pack will include a choice disc and shirt featuring our event logo in two color schemes. SHIRT SIZES AND DISCS ARE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. But, we should have plenty of shirt sizes and discs for all participants! Registration Check-In will start at 7:30am and will last until 8:30am. ALL PLAYERS WHO HAVE NOT CHECKED IN BY 8:30AM WILL FORFEIT THEIR SPOT TO THE NEXT PLAYER ON THE WAITLIST. Players can choose to practice on their starting hole as well as use the temporary practice baskets located near tournament central.
Round Play, OB, and Other Course Information (Round 1-9:00am Longs; Round 2-TBD Shorts)
Round 1 will begin at 9:00am, with a two-minute call going out at 8:58am. PLEASE BEGIN TO GO TO YOUR HOLES NO LATER THAN 8:45AM. Round 1 will be using a modified LONGS layout of the course. HOLE 12’s LONG TEE WILL NOT BE IN USE FOR ROUND 1. Also, HOLE 14 FROM THE LONG TEE IS A PAR 4, so Round 1 will operate as PAR 55. After the conclusion of our Round 1 and hour-long break for lunch, we will begin Round 2 using the SHORTS layout (Par 54). ONLY PRO AND ADVANCED DIVISIONS WILL PLAY FROM THE LONGS DURING ROUND 1 AND EVERYONE WILL PLAY FROM THE SHORTS DURING ROUND 2. THE LIVE SCORECARDS WILL TELL YOU WHICH LAYOUT YOU WILL PLAY. NO DIVISION SHOULD USE THE NOVICE TEE POSTS IN THE FAIRWAY OF CERTAIN HOLES. The tees in use for the tournament will be marked clearly and any further questions regarding tee location should be taken up with the tournament director.
This is a sanctioned event with the PDGA, so all PDGA Rules and Guidelines are in effect. Additionally, there has been some heavy rainfall in the area for the past month, with a little more expected throughout this week. Please be careful and be prepared for muddy conditions on certain holes and tee pads. ANY STANDING WATER IS ENTITLED TO CASUAL RELIEF as defined by the PDGA Rules. Additionally, players will have the option to tee off within the marked boundaries on the sides certain tee pads where standing water could render the pad unplayable. Casual relief is defined below:
A. A casual area is casual water, or any area specifically designated as a casual area by the Director before the round. Casual water is any body of water that is in-bounds, and has not been explicitly declared by the Director to be in play.
B. To obtain relief from a casual area, the player's lie may be relocated to the nearest lie which is farther from the target and is on the line of play, at the nearest point that provides relief (unless greater casual relief is announced by the Director).
OB AND MANDATORIES are as follows:
Hole 1- OB is the Parking Lot and beyond on the left side.
Hole 3- OB is the Parking Lot and beyond on the upper left (same lot as Hole 1)
Hole 4- Mandatory to the right of the marked tree
Hole 5- OB is the road running behind the basket and beyond
Hole 6 and 7- OB is Sidewalk and beyond down the left side of both holes
Hole 10- OB is defined by colored tape along the right side (dirt patch next to the light poles). Mandatory to the left of the light poles as marked.
Hole 14 Long- OB is marked by colored tape along the right side of the hole (dirt patch).
Hole 15- Mandatory left of the marked tree
As an added reminder, many of the holes at this park (especially on the front 9) are in close proximity to one another. BE MINDFUL OF OTHER CARDS WHEN YOU TEE OFF. Certain holes will have a liner barrier in place to try and protect players from errant shots, but please be mindful of your surroundings.
Scoring will be done using PDGA Live as well as paper scorecards as backup. Phone reception is generally fine at the park, so there should be no issues there. You will need to go to pdga.com/score to enter the scores. The password for live scoring is BSB21. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DOING DIGITAL SCORING (and have not done it before) PLEASE REVIEW THE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AT THE END OF THIS EMAIL.
Additional Notes
Remember that this is a public park, so please remember to act with regard to any casual park-goers, especially those who may be using the dog park between Hole 9 and 10. The course is reserved for the day, so interference from park-goers on the course itself should be minimal. PACK IT IN AND PACK IT OUT with personal trash. Trash cans are limited on the course itself, so be prepared with space in your bag/cart for any trash you may create for yourself during the round. Also, in accordance with COVID-19 Guidelines, we ask that ALL PLAYERS TRY TO MAINTAIN AT LEAST 6 FEET OF SOCIAL DISTANCE AND WEAR A MASK WHEN AT TOURNAMENT CENTRAL AND WHEN SOCIAL DISTANCING IS NOT POSSIBLE.
LUNCH WILL NOT BE PROVIDED after Round 1. However, if you do not feel like or forget to pack a lunch, there are plenty of fast food dining options and grocery stores within minutes of the park.
WE WILL HAVE AN ACE POOL AS WELL AS CTPs ON CERTAIN HOLES. The Ace Pool and CTPs do not require any additional buy-in. Additionally, we will be running a 50/50 raffle and a raffle for a portable travel basket. Raffle tickets will be $3 for 5, $10 for 7, and $20 for 15.

PDGA Live Scoring Information:
This option allows anyone with the hole scoring Access Code to enter scores for each hole for whatever players they choose, without having access to Tournament Manager.
Have your scorekeepers open any browser on their mobile device and go to www.pdga.com/score. The scorekeeper will be prompted to enter the Access Code and press the Submit button.
The scorekeeper will be prompted to select the appropriate division, round, and then check the names of the players on the specific card they will be following. Once players are selected, click Continue.
The scoring screen will load with the names of each player selected from the previous screen. The default starting hole is hole 1, so be sure to remind the player to choose the correct starting hole if for some reason hole 1 is not where the group is starting (e.g. shotgun start).
Scores for each player will be automatically defaulted to whatever the par is for the hole that is being scored. The scorekeeper can use the plus or minus buttons to add or remove strokes. When all players have the correct scores, clicking Save & Continue will upload the scores and the page will automatically reload on the hole that follows.
