As some of you might know, there was a heartbreaking passing this past Sunday 8/10 of one of our own La Mirada Disc Golf family. Arammaru "MARU" Kim was playing a round at La Mirada when paramedics & and fire were called after he became unresponsive. His friends tell me that Maru loved playing disc golf since being introduced to the game in June of 2024. He excelled at the sport quickly and participated in multiple California Disc Golf Series events including the Long Beach Classic just 2 weeks ago.
The La Mirada Disc Golf Club will be hosting an ACE RACE this Sunday 8/17 in Maru's honor. It will be $20 to participate and all funds & donations collected will go directly to Maru's family for expenses during this tragic time. There's no online registration so please plan on arriving prior to 8:30 to check in and be added to a card. We will have a CTP, ring of fire, and tons of prizes to be awarded courtesy of the Los Angeles Disc Golf Club & Discovering the World .
We hope that our La Mirada disc golf community can join us for this cause in Maru's honor and help his grieving family.
