About this tournament

Welcome to the 2026 Golden Sombrero Series of Ice Bowls! The Sombrero is back and flying high! The San Diego Aces are planning on holding several events in San Diego County, and there are several planned for the Inland Empire and L.A. Golden Sombrero Ice Bowls are charity fundraising events, collecting donations for our local food banks (exact charity may differ by event). Sombrero competitors receive 1 point for each player they beat at an event, with decorated sombreros as the prizes.
Our Altitude Golden Sombrero event will be held on Friday, February 27th. We will be playing in the evening so this will be a glow round! We have a full box of glow plastic discs from Innova Disc Golf, 1 for each player. We will play a 1-round, shotgun start tournament, PDGA-sanctioned XC-Tier. We are NOT using mulligans at this event so you can get rated rounds, so please buy lots of raffle tickets! Every participant will receive a Golden Sombrero-stamped disc from Innova-Champion Discs and 5 raffle tickets. We have a large number of raffle prizes - 30+ discs, along with water bottles, towels, shirts, etc. There is also a new disc golf bag.
This tournament is a PDGA Competition Endowment Program (CEP) Charity event. There will be no trophies or payout so we can maximize the donation to the San Diego Food Bank. The CEP program allows us to waive the $15 PDGA non-member fee, so if you're not a member or not current you can play this event without paying the extra fee. We will award 5 extra raffle tickets to each division winner.
We are playing the standard Altitude layout, with no extra OB string or paint. Streets and parking lot are OB, over fences OB.
The San Diego Aces will be combining this Ice Bowl with a bag tag match as part of the Ice Bowl. There is no additional cost for the bag tag match, you just must be a SD Aces member. Sign up for the Aces here: https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournament/San_Diego_Aces_Disc_Golf_Club_Club_Membership_2026_2027 You will use your Ice Bowl score for the bag tag match! We will distribute bag tags at Dog Haus and Circle 1 shops - be sure to tell us which one!
