About this tournament
Thank you for supporting the Tucson Ice Bowl, benefiting the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, part of the national Ice Bowl® series of winter disc golf events that are held each year, with an overall mission of raising funds to fight hunger. (For more information, go to icebowlhq.com)
The Ice Bowl is Tucson Disc Golf's biggest annual charity event and since 1995 we have raised more than $30,000 for the Food Bank.
We will be playing one round of 27 holes, at Man in the Maze Trail Park in Sahuarita. We will be playing the regular, long 18 Maze course along with the new short 9-hole Labyrinth course, in 27 contiguous holes.
The 18-hole course has new baskets and new mandos and pyramid pins on several holes; the Labyrinth course is a challenging little pitch-and-put with some tricky mandos and elevated pins.
Some other details:
-- We will not have a lunch break per se, but there will be a refreshment center under tents with water and snacks on top in the middle of the upper course, where groups can refresh and take a break within a short walk of several tees, and spend time in case there is a backup. There will be food and drink after the round with an optional $5 for an Eeeges sub, chips and drink, or bring your own (we will have a beer permit).
-- Part of the Tucson Ice Bowl tradition our focus is on having a fun event with the main aim of raising the most we can to help feed the hungry. We will play according to PDGA rules, except we are continuing our longstanding practice of allowing players to buy mulligans (do-over shots) for $1 each. No matter how many mulligans you take, you must use your last shot. As usual, we'll have a nice prize pack for the player who buys the most mullis!
-- We will do our best to accommodate cards, though we also would like to stick to divisions as much as possible to drive some friendly competition.
-- Because of the use of mulligans and stress on fun, entry fees and payouts are low (Pros will get cash, ams merchandise). For purposes of CTP prizes, ONLY FIRST THROWS will count, but you may use mulligans otherwise on those holes.
-- It could be 60 and windy, it could be 85 and sunny... remember the Ice Bowl motto: NO WIMPS! NO WHINERS!
