About this tournament

James Valley Youth for Christ will be holding its second annual charity doubles tournament this Sept. 9!

The course (for advanced players) has been expanded to 18 holes. The novice division is ideal for young players or first timers. It is a great opportunity to introduce others to disc golf, grow the sport, and contribute to a good cause.

This disc golf tournament, held at City Park in Valley City is a fundraiser event for the Valley City chapter of James Valley Youth for Christ (YFC). YFC is a movement that reaches young people everywhere with the hope of Christ. It works with local churches and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement. You can find more information on YFC at this link or by going to https://jamesvalleyyfc.org/. The proceeds will be used to help fund YFC outreach and activities.

This is a two-round, best-shot-doubles format event with food provided as part of entry! Golf discs will also be available for rent for $2.00 per disc. (2 discs minimum recommended)

This event will have two divisions -- an Advanced division for experienced players, and a Novice division for those with less experience. First-time disc golfers, those renting discs, and those not seeking a highly-competitive experience should sign up for the Novice division. All others (including anyone with a PDGA number) should sign up for the Advanced division. Teams can be same-gender or mixed-gender; there are no gender-protected divisions in this event. There are also no age-protected divisions, so parents and children can play together in the same group.

The schedule will be flexible based on the number of teams entering; however, we anticipate that the players meeting will be at 8:30 AM and we will have a shotgun start around 9:00 AM. At the players meeting we will cover all the rules for the tournament and make sure that everyone understands the format. Food will be ready about the time that you finish your first round. If you aren't familiar with disc golf, but want to give it a try, we will be there around 7:00 AM to answer your questions or give you pointers.

After all groups have completed their first round, there will be a short awards ceremony for Novice players. The advanved players will then continue on for another 18 holes, followed by an awards ceremony. Payouts will consist of prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division, plus a special prize in the Novice division.

We are also seeking donations for door prizes and CTPs, and seeking hole sponsorships. Please reach out to the Tournament Directors if you have anything that you would like to donate or would like to sponsor a hole. There are three tiers of hole sponsorship available, with sponsorship costs ranging from $50 - $100 depending on the tier chosen.

This event will be held at City Park in Valley City, using a modified 18 hole expanded layout. As it is at a public park, and out of respect for other park users, the use of alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and illicit drugs is prohibited during the event. Any refuse must also be disposed of appropriately -- garbage cans and a dumpster will be available for player use.
