TEXAS STATES WHAT TO KNOW !!!!

Welcome to the 28th Annual Texas State Disc Golf Championships – Presented by Innova !!!!!
 
For 2023 the event will return to Houston, spanning 9 area courses while playing host to a 750 player potential. Houston Flying Disc Society, Houston Disc Golf, OneStar, Lucky Ace, LEGIT DISCS and Gorilla Disc Golf have taken on the monumental task of facilitating the BIGGEST Texas States player pool EVER !!! 
 
We are absolutely honored to have the opportunity to carry the torch of Texas States. It is our goal to both honor the cherished traditions of the States event and push forward with the growth and progress of our beloved sport. As such, we will be offering divisions not previously offered at this event.  Players from MPO/FPO all the way to MA3/FA3 and JR’s will get the red carpet treatment, as we promise to show the same attentions to detail to all players down the line. 
 
This event has been made possible by the City of Houston and Houston Parks and Rec Dept. The Brock park facility is a product of their efforts as a revitalization of the area. Their vision, dedication and efforts towards realizing the goal on this project have been key. Thank you Houston and HPar !!!

Players party will be Saturday 3/25/23 from 6pm-9pm+ at Karbach Brewing Co in the Biergarten Area.

RV PARKING FOR DGPT PLAYERS:

Can you park your RVs etc at the park ?

Short answer- Yes.

Just around the corner from the main lot at event HQ, we have secured a lot specifically for the "Van lifers". There's a tennis court, plenty of warm up space etc. It will be private to players only and for your overnight use. 
  Unfortunately, there's no electricity. 

You will have the option to drive over to HQ and use the main lot while you’re playing, but we will encourage car pooling to try and save space for other players. 

I’ll provide maps, logistics and clear directions also. 

The Van Life lot has an access point to the Brock courses, at hole 16 Gold, but it's about a 1/3mile walk down a scenic concrete path.

A-Tier side players and spectators at Brock will be asked to park outside the gate of the main lot.

There will be street parking (free) and a pay lot ($10 a day-cash only) directly across the street.

3/14/23 BROCK and BROCK MOD UPDATE:
GOLD-
Baskets will go in on Monday morning 3/20.
(We apologize, but accessibility this weekend is limited)
The course will be flagged, painted and fully dressed to event standards by the end of the day Monday.
Practice and play are limited to DGPT players only starting Tues 3/21.
*GOLD COURSE IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC WHEN MPO PRACTICE IS SCHEDULED.
MOD-
Flagging and painting will begin Sunday 3/19 and be completed by Monday midday.
The course will be open for play / practice AFTER 12:30 each day, as it will be private to FPO only 7:30am -12:30
PARKING-
The main lot will be open from 7:30am-5:30pm 3/21-3/23 FOR PLAYERS (including A-Tier players).
The lot is closed this weekend, but the courses are open for practice. You’ll have to park in the neighborhood.

28th Annual Texas State Disc Golf Championships update - 3/7/23
We will send out comprehensive "what to know" emails including course maps, rules, schedule of events and just about anything else you'll need by Friday March 17th.

-ALL satellite courses will be fully marked, including OB's, DZ's and Mandos by Tues March 21st. Some sooner, I'll update as things materialize. (Theres mowing and other make ready going on now thru then that we can't interfere with)
Rules have been posted here for awhile and are also available on the DGScene reg page in the comments.

-BROCK GOLD baskets "SHOULD" go in by 3/17/23.
GOLD and MOD: OB's and other event markings and dress will be done around the same time. Please use the maps above for reference, the OB's are really self explanatory and follow gravel paths and tree lines. (**see maps for reference, they are still unofficial)

So just a question.....For the aged amateur divisions, you have reserved a good number of spots for the MA40 and MA50 (40 and 42), but then why the huge dropoff to only 8 for MA60? Not being critical just curious as MA60 has been easily fielding 12+ in every tournament I have been in this year and I would think it would have no problem filling at least that number for this big of a tournament. I know its a lot of work so l want to offer my thanks as well for all the tireless efforts of everyone involved to make this happen! :)

General rules-
NO 2 METER RULE
Creek and beyond OB, painted lines supersede waterline where applicable. Markings will have paint and flags to represent the OB line. Casual water is defined as any body of water NOT designated as OB.
HOLE SPECIFIC RULES-
1. Parking lot /concrete Is OB.
5. OB right side of the fairway Marked with flags and paint. Play from last in bounds location.
13. Paint and flagged marked line is OB. Proceed to Drop Zone (Painted and Flagged)
14. Creek and beyond is OB.
16. Creek and beyond is OB.
17. Creek and beyond is OB.
18. Paint and flagged marked line is OB. Proceed to Drop Zone ( Painted and Flagged)




DEUSSEN PARK-
ALL PATHS, ROADS, STREETS AND BEYOND ARE OB.
BEYOND ALL FENCES IS OB. Fence-line defines OB.
PLAY STARTS ON HOLE 4
HOLE 4- Island hole, 60’ Diameter. Disc must come to rest in in-bounds island or proceed to DZ or Re-tee w/penalty stroke. All subsequent throws play traditional OB rules.
HOLE 2- Mando. Disc must pass left of mando tree.
HOLE 11- Water in pond is OB.
HOLE 15- Creek and beyond is OB, in addition to general rules.
HOLE 18- Painted OB line, right. 2 Mandos. Disc must pass left of BOTH marked trees.



RIVER GROVE:
NO 2 METER RULE
3. Brush right is OB (painted line). Go to DZ or re-tee.
3A. Water and beyond is OB.
4. DZ for lost discs. Once ALL players on a card have started to help look for a lost disc please start the 3 minute clock.
HOLE 11 - Sidewalk and beyond is OB.





NORTHSIDE CHRISTIAN CHURCH-
All concrete, parking lots, gravel, and fences are OB. Most OB lines will be marked clearly with paint/flags. Water is OB unless otherwise stated in hole specific rules.
Hole 1 - Par 4- Road and beyond left is OB, Water and beyond right is OB.
Hole 2 - Par 3 with OB left, right and long. The road/paint/flag line left is OB.
Hole 3 - Par 3 with OB left and right.
Hole 4 - Par 3 with OB left and long. The children’s playground on the right of the tee-pad is also OB.
Hole 5 - Par 3 Path right and beyond if OB. Parking lot and roads are OB. All OB plays traditional OB rules. Mando left of marked tree, if missed proceed to DZ with one stroke penalty. DZ FOR MISSED MANDO ONLY
Hole 6 - Par 3 with OB on both the right and left sides of the fairway. DZ FOR MISSED MANDO POND OB’s ONLY
Hole 7 - Par 3 with no OB
Hole 8 - Par 3 with casual water in the ditch/retention pond. Casual relief is closest playable lie in the line of play. Fence right and beyond is OB.
Hole 9 - Par 3 - Must cross in-bounds territory or re-tee.
Hole 10 - Par 3 with no OB in play.
Hole 11 - Par 3 - Barbwire fence and beyond is OB, Please take up to 2 meters of safety relief from the last in-bounds position.
Hole 12 - Par 3 with no OB in play.
Hole 13 - Par 3 with OB left of the fairway and long of the basket. Please play from last in-bounds position. If there is any barbwire, please take up to 2 meters of safety relief.
Hole 14 - Par 4 with OB on the right side beyond the barbed wire fence.
Hole 15 - Par 3 with OB on the right side of the fairway.
Hole 16S - Par 3 - Disc must pass RIGHT of marked mando. Go to DZ. Gravel road long of basket is OB
DP1 - Par 3 with OB along both sides and long of fairway. Gravel road left, paint/flag line separating fairways right and beyond is OB. The road behind the basket will all play OB. If shot lands in any OB area please play from last in bounds location.
DP2 - Par 4 with OB on both sides of fairway. Fence and beyond left is OB, paint/flag line separating fairways right and beyond is OB.
DP3 will play as a par 3 with OB long of the basket. Concrete culvert is played as casual, gravel road and beyond long of basket is OB.
Hole 17 - Par 3 with OB short and long. Tee box is in-bounds island. Disc must cross in-bounds territory or re-tee.
Hole 18 - Par 4 with OB on the left and right sides of the fairway. The parking lot left and the water and beyond right are OB. ALL CONCRETE IN CULVERT IS OB. WATER AND BEYOND IS OB. The grass in between the sidewalk IS OB. Painted line on grass over bridge indicates OB line.





JONES CREEK-
GENERAL RULES:
- All fence lines on perimeter of property and beyond are OB. Fence boards define OB line.
- Players are allowed 2 meters of relief from barbed wire.
- Water in pond and creek is OB.
- Playground is OB.
- ALL PAINTED LINES AND BEYOND ARE OB

ILL ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO REFERENCE THE MAP AND FIND PARKING CLOSE TO YOUR STARTING HOLES
Holes 5-9, parking is available at the church near 8s tee box. Be advised, parking at the church near hole 8 will be limited in the am. Street parking in the area is a viable option.
Holes 14-21, parking is available on the street near these holes and in the adjacent neighborhood.

NO 2 meter rule
Beyond any fence is OB. Fence-lines defined by innermost (towards fairway) posts. If fence is missing, create line from closest appropriate posts.
MANDOS- ALL tree MANDOS are defined by main trunk OR marked limb/branch of tree. DZ will be flagged for each mando. See painted arrows to define restricted space.

Hey all !!

This week, you’ll start to see info and links posted with course rules and other detailed info. This will include maps with OBs and any temp holes, modifications etc.

You’ll also see a more comprehensive schedule for the players party and other peripheral going’s on.

In the week following, you’ll see Brock Gold and Brock Mod take shape for early practice.

Brock Gold baskets will be marked with PVC poles, tees will be staked and OB flags will be placed for reference (There will not be paint or string, yet).

Brock Mod baskets will be moved into position, and will remain there thru the event. Temp tees will be flagged. Also note we will be testing different turf tees on the few temp holes, to help determine which option will be used for the event.
