2023 CWE Canadian Women's Event in Peterborough
About this tournament
The Canadian Women's Event (CWE) is a newly created tournament to celebrate Canadian women in disc golf. CWE's across Canada will take place in the months of May and June and a Canadian ranking system will be created for all participants. This year, I am proud to offer our very first CWE held right here, in Peterborough!
If you have never played disc golf before, or just began throwing, a tournament might seem like an impossible or intimidating event. However, this event is more about celebrating women's accomplishment in sport, our disc golf journey and getting to meet more female disc golfers than competing. To help facilitate youth and new comers to the sport, the second round of golf is optional for some divisions.
Your round score(s) will be uploaded along with other participants from across the country, which may qualify you for a national award in your age category or skill level. There will be prizes and trophies awarded at the local level for all ages and skill levels, as well as an amazing players pack! The CWE players pack contains a premium plastic latitude 64 custom stamped tournament disc, a custom G.O.A.T. towel with the event logo, sticker, a mystery Throw Pink gift AND additional snacks and treats. It's impossible to buy these items for the cost of entry to the event ($40).
TO GUARANTEE THE EVENT PLAYERS PACK WITHOUT SUBSTITUTIONS REGISTRATION MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE MARCH 11th, 2023. FOR REGISTRATIONS AFTER THIS DATE, ALL EFFORTS WILL BE MADE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH AN EVENT PLAYERS PACK BUT SUBSTITUTIONS MAY OCCUR.
In addition to the great players pack, we will also have draws, raffles, and discs available for purchase on site from Discy Chicks. Everyone will play one round of disc golf, from the tee pads that have the flags, in the morning and then we will have a 60-minute break for lunch, minumum 45 min from last card finished. Water and snacks will be available throughout the course all day. During the lunch break, special activities will be provided for you as well as opportunity to socialize with all of the participants. Following lunch, the second round will begin. For advanced divisions and sanctioned players this round is mandatory, but for beginner, novice and junior divisions it is optional. We will have draws for the prizes and raffles, and a ceremony for the winners of each division following the completion of the second round.
This event is funded by businesses in our area, the CWE Committee and PDGA Canada. Additionally, the $10 non-membership fee for non-PDGA members was waived for this event as well. We will have fun activities, washrooms, music, vendors and laughter! I have also arranged some volunteers and spotters to help locate discs and assist you in navigating around the course.
Please share this event with your friends and family, and help us make history! You don't want to miss being a part of this event. All ages and skill levels welcome.
Volunteers are the heart of an event, you make it all possible.
What will be needed
-public paths need to be safe for all players and park users. This is number one.
-Spotting for discs, helping cards of new players to learn and score, possibly their very first round, ever! Positive encouragement will be required.
-Water is present on this course, it's so beautiful, sometimes we may need a disc retrieved, only from the shoreline of course.
-Runners, for anything that's needed.
Im sure other things will come up on the day.
Thank you for helping us to make this the most successful it can be.
