It's time for the 2022 Coastal Cup!
This is an annual, competitive team event between Chuck-Town (Charleston Disc Golf Club) and Dirty Myrtle (MBDGC). The format is Match Play with one round of best shot doubles match play (2v2), followed by one round of individual match play.
After three years, the score stands 2-1 in favor of Charleston, but your MBDGC team is the current Cup holder and defending Champions. This year we travel down the coast to play at James Island County Park where CDGC will host on June 18th.
Registration for this event promises a sweet jersey designed by Eric Sepich with the Coastal Cup logo designed by Ben Hopwood. The Myrtle Beach jerseys are teal to pay homage to our hometown school of CCU, while Chuck-Town will be rocking maroon for CofC.
Registration here will get you a jersey guaranteed, but with limited spots on the team, there will be a qualifying process during the month of May.
MBDGC Team qualifying will consist of rated rounds including Wednesdays and Saturdays starting on Saturday, April 30th and continuing to Saturday, May 28th. 26 spots will be filled by the 26 individuals with the highest rated rounds during that time period who are registered here.
On the weekend of June 4th-5th, there will be an LCQ (last chance qualifier) for the last 4 spots on the team. This will be at Socastee Rec Park from the short tees, where the 4 lowest scores will qualify.
This event is competitive, while also being a ton of fun. We want to keep the trophy here on the Grand Strand, but it will take our best efforts. We also must keep in mind that competition can sometimes bring hostility, but winning AND losing with grace, dignity, and respect is worth more than all the trophies in the world. We love our Chuck-Town brothers and sisters and cannot wait to fellowship with them on the course and enjoy this great game together.
