About this tournament
We have finally made it to the end!
This event doubles as the end of my career as a Tournament Director, and the end of the Southern Illinois Tournament Series!
For all of those who participated in the Series, all of the Southern Illinois collaborating Tournament Directors would love to extend their thanks! It's been a fun year collecting data and hopefully as I retire, the other members continue what will be a great tradition for all lovers of Disc Golf in Southern Illinois. Now, let's get to the information:
1. In the interest of fairness, this event will be RATINGS BASED as far as divisions are concerned. There will always be questions. I will address the ones that primarily come to mind.
-------What if I don't have a rating?---------
You will be auto-rated at the highest rating of the division you competed in MOST OFTEN or THE HIGHEST DIVISION YOU COMPETED IN during the series, whichever is most prominent.
example - You are unrated, but competed 3 out of 4 times in MA4. You will be assumed an 849 rated player.(850 is the MA4 cutoff)
example 2 - You are unrated, competed 1 time in MA3, but 3 times in MA2. You will be assumed a 934 rated player. (934 is the MA2 cutoff)
example 3 - You are unrated, but competed 1 time in MA1, winning the division and qualifying for the finals from that single event. You will be assumed to be rated 975.
-------What about the Professional Classification members?--------
Pros are typically a different breed. I will likely separate this on my own at my discretion, but you're not truly competing for cash at this event this year, it's primarily an event designed for data collection and you'll be going for the championship ring. I have to do more backend work to decide how much is going to be in your pool and how I will handle that. I will have to work with the PDGA as well likely.
-------How are the Gender-Specific divisions going to be handled?----------
Gender has been a hot topic for PDGA-sanctioned events for quite some time. Thankfully, we don't have much of an inclusivity issue here in Southern Illinois. Ladies that qualified, you'll be grouped up with male players, yes, but you're grouped up with male players that are AT YOUR SKILL LEVEL. Winning a ring over 7 other competitors should feel better than winning a ring just by showing up.
I will be posting the details of layouts and everything as soon as I can!
