Thank you for your participation at the Kellie Jo Memorial at the beginning of August. I realize that this is coming WAY late after the event. Plenty going on trying to get items checked off summer to-do list.

I wanted to share that we were able to donate $3,191 to the Huntington's Disease Society of America. Your generosity in the raffles that we offered was AMAZING! Those you bought tickets for the various items, thank you so much for your support. Those that took home items, I sincerely hope that you are enjoying them.To all of you that donated items, helped setup, pack up, offered assistance during the event, this event could not have been possible without you.

We hope that you enjoyed your day with us and your rounds at Independence Lake. We will work hard to make sure that we can continue to offer events for you, and make next year's Kellie Jo Event even better.

Virtual Player meeting was posted - please make sure you watch it. I tried to be short but still ended up being a little long winded.

Quick reminders about tomorrow:

We will get everything ready to go as quickly as we can in the morning. We are expecting to have an efficient and safe check in process for you, along with the event itself. We are asking that you maintain social distancing and take additional precautions (such as wearing a mask) in areas where social distancing may be difficult. We will have masks on hand if they are needed. Hand sanitizer and latex gloves will be made available as well.

Please remember that you will need to park in the paved parking lot as the dirt lot has been closed until further notice. I also posted information regarding lunch and leaving the park in an earlier post. Please keep that in mind that if the park is busy and they hit that 60% capacity mark at the Beach Center, they close the gate and only allow a car in when a car leaves....and you CAN NOT jump the line just because you have already been in the park.

RAFFLE:
We have some great raffle items in order to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America. We have 3 different backpacks style bags, a Chainstar lite, as well as a lot of discs. There will be individual bins for each of the backpacks and basket - individuals will be able to choose where they want to drop their tickets. There will be another bin representing all the discs. We will be drawing several tickets from that bin and players will have their choice from the items on the table. We ask that players try to make their selections as quickly as possible.ease

Event Day Notes:

Some small bits of information that I want to share (will be in the virtual player meeting as well....had to re-record that due to new park info provided....will be up shortly). All are important, and you REALLY need to pay attention to #4 as it could impact you the most if you leave the park during lunch.

From the park:

1. Regarding lunch, there is a small snack bar open up at the Beach Center in the back of the park (menu has been posted in the picture section for you). Marco’s, Hungry Howie’s and Domino’s in Whitmore Lake also delivery here all the time for about $3/4 delivery fee and it only takes them about 30 minutes.

2. There is a vehicle entry fee for the park. Please be prepared for that. The park will be extending the gatehouse hours to cover 8am-8pm starting Aug 1 as more people are coming into the park.

3. Event players DO NOT need to pay the $2 pay to play fee at the gatehouse when they are coming in if they don’t have a disc golf annual tag. The staff will know to ask why you are here and not to charge event players but if you could let the staff in the gatehouse know that you are here for the event as a double check that would be great. They want everyone to have a great time and don’t want anyone upset because they didn’t know about payment.

4. Due to COVID, the park is running on 60% of our vehicle capacity of the beach center parking lot, this is 200 cars total allowed in the park at this time. The park understands that down at disc golf there will be more cars but due to that being a separate area of the park where social distancing is easier they are not counting those cars in the 60% count. HOWEVER, if the park does fill to that 60% capacity, they will be holding up cars at the gatehouse for a one car allowed in the park when one car comes out of the park. This typically only happens on the weekends and normally anytime 1pm through 3:30pm depending on the weather and pavilion rentals. They don’t anticipate this will be a problem for our event but if any of the event players leave the park for lunch, depending on park visitor use, you might have trouble getting back in the park or have to wait in a line. YOU CAN NOT JUMP THE LINE TO GET BACK IN.

Again, this will be covered in the virtual player meeting but wanted to post it here as well.

One thing I am asking is that there are no caddies or spectators. We are already at the max for the event and PDGA guidelines for event capacity.

I will be posting a virtual players' meeting video this week (will try to have it up Wednesday afternoon at the latest). PLEASE watch it as it will have information about the event, event course setup, safety procedures, digital scorecard information, as well as information about the raffle items that we have.

Please keep in mind that WC Glow is donating all proceeds from the event to the Huntington's Disease Society of America.

Like everyone else with PDGA Sanctioned events scheduled in April, based on what is going on with COVID-19, this event will not take place in April. I will look at options to reschedule the event for a later date but will need to go through the proper channels/process to do so.

That being said, a few of you have pre-paid for the event and I will gladly refund your entry fee (minus the small fee that DGS earns when you register). Please just shoot me a message to let me know you want the refund.

I would also like to offer that if you have already paid for the event, I could also apply that towards one of our other events this year if you would like. I am completely flexible and just need to know what your preferences are.

Can I just say “my DG community is truly amazing.” I appreciate you all coming out today to play in less than ideal conditions in support of Huntington’s Disease.

I will have a total amount that we will be donating to HDSA in a day or so, but believe that we are already in prime position to set a record for this event.

I appreciate you bearing with me as we did online scoring and using tee assignments. I know the raffle and payouts took longer than expected and appreciate your patience with that as well.

I would like to say thank you to EVERYONE that supported the event and helped out.
