Thanks to all the competitors who came out for the 2020 Oderus Open!!! All results have been entered the the PDGA page and are awaiting review from the PDGA. I appreciate your support for this event and look to make next year even better as we move in to year 5 of this event!!!

Also, if you lost any discs, please feel free to comment in this thread. We'll do our best to get them back to you. A couple no-name discs were turned in already, and a couple minis. If there's something that didn't come home with you, we can keep in eye out in the return box and try to get it back to you.

Digital Scoring has been enabled for the event. The OB sheets will have the access code, and can be done during the rounds at pdga.com/score

This is not required, but is encouraged. Paper scorecards will be provided to each card as well to ensure the option is available for those who want to go that route. My suggestion is to do both, and use the paper scorecard to check scores before submitting and making official.

COURSE CONDITIONS UPDATE

I was at the course today and want to make sure all are aware that it was wet from the rain we've gotten over the past 48 hours. I would not call it overly muddy, but some areas did have standing water. Please note for these areas, casual relief rules will exist where your shot can be behind the hazard directly in line with the basket and your lie as is. Also, the ropes will be in play for the OBs around Pine Lake (holes 2, 3, 6, and 15). Some areas just past the rope in bounds have some standing water as well. But if you take your 1 meter of relief from the OB lines, there should be water to contend with.

Make sure you bring the right shoes for the conditions!!! Weather should be prime with no rain in the forecast. So we should have to deal with the course conditions with minimal impact from the weather during the event.

Also, please remember to have a mask for when checking in and at any points at HQ where social distancing cannot be maintained. MASKS ARE NOT REQUIRED DURING COMPETITION!!!

PLAYER MEETING DETAILS

ALL PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN BEFORE ROUND 1 AT TOURNAMENT HQ!!!!!
This is vital, as all players will be signing a waiver to acknowledge they are aware of the risk involved during the COVID pandemic. If a player chooses not to sign, they will not be allowed to compete in the event. These will be on each player card, and will be signed upon check-in.

There will be a short 15 minute Player's Meeting to discuss some of the special OBs / course layout rules for both rounds 1 and 2. This is primarily for Holes 4, Hole 2 Long (Island), Hole 3 Gold (for MPO, MA1, and MA40 only). OB sheets will be provided and also explain all of these rules in detail. A picture of this sheet will also be uploaded to the "Pictures" area for here if needed for reference.

Seeing as we are still required to wear masks when in groups, please be sure to wear a mask during check-in process and at any times where social distancing is not able to be practiced. Masks are not required during play, but can be worn if a player decides to do so.

As a reminder, Tournament HQ is off-site. The locations details are below:

Check in, break, and awards/payouts will all be handled off-site at Kiwana's Community Hall, located at 14685 View Drive, Newbury, OH. This is only about 5 minutes away from the course located right off Elm Drive, which is about 1/2 mile west off of Rt 87 (Kinsman) from the main park entrance. Elm Drive (which is located directly across from the Animal Hospital) ends right into the parking lot for this Community Hall about 1/2 mile down.

There will be signs visible from both directions on Rt. 87 (Kinsman) at Elm Street to direct players towards the HQ. There will also be a sign out-front, and one posted at the kiosk at the course as a reminder that check-in is required.

During the payout process for Am players, we will be allowing groups to come up for their payouts to avoid a large crowd at the payout area. This will be groups of 1st place from each division, followed by 2nd place from each division, and so on and so forth. This may make the process a touch slower, but we need to follow social distancing protocols.

Also, all Professional Payouts will be sent via Paypal to all who win cash. This will be done after the event.

There will also be a $2 ace fund the day of the event. All players who want to partake will need to pay in $2 and be sure to write their name on the list. If no aces are hit, there will be a throw off during payouts for the Ams, with the 3 closest winning, being paid out as 50%, 30%, and 20% for the three closest.

There will also be some add-on prizes during the event. During Round 1, each card winner will receive a Gateway Disc Sports disc that they have donated to our event. Those will be given out either before Round 2 or during payouts. There will also be 2 CTPs during the Round 1. One will be on Hole 13, and the other will be on Hole 14. Prizes are also Gateway Discs and a Lat 64 Tee Shirt. These are All Division CTPs. For Round 2, each set of tees (Red, White, Blue) will have CTPs. These will be multi-division, as some players from different divisions are playing the same tees. For the Red Tees, this will be hole 14. For the White Tees, this will be Hole 4. For the Blue Tees, this will be hole 17. Prizes will be an event custom stamped Lil Wizard.

Notes:
Hole 2 Island Rules: Disc must land safely on the island to be in bounds. If a shot does not land
safely in the island, throw from point of OB and throw again to island. If landing in the
island does not occur after 3 attempts, move to the "drop zone" on the Platform (Gold Tee)
with a 1 stroke penatly for every shot that does not land safely on the island. Crossing over in
bounds does not constitute point of OB. Disc must land on the island to be considered in bounds!!
Island OB area is defined by Wood Planks (front of OB) and Ropes. The shot must be on the inside of the
wooden planks and not leaning on the outside of the planks to be considered in bounds.

Hole 3 Gold Tee Rules: Disc must land safely in bounds from tee shot with ropes defining the in bounds
area. If a tee shot does not land safely in bounds, players may re-tee or move to the 3 Blue Tee with a 1 stroke penalty.

Hole 4 Drop Zone Rules: This hole essentially plays as an island. If drive crosses over the RED ropes (on far side
of creek) and goes OB at any point, the next shot is taken from the drop zone at the beginning of the bridge with a one stroke
penalty. If a shot goes OB before the "island" green area, the next shot is taken from the point of OB with a one stroke penalty.
This includes on the left or right in any area before the creek. In the instance that a drive goes long and goes OB behind or
to the right of the basket, the next shot is still taken from the drop zone. On any shot after a drive that goes OB, regardless
of where the point of OB is, the shot is taken from the location the disc went OB.

ALL SHOTS THAT GO OB INCUR A ONE STROKE PENATLY!!!

Check in, break, and awards/payouts will all be handled off-site at Kiwana's Community Hall, located at 14685 View Drive, Newbury, OH. This is only about 5 minutes away from the course located right off Elm Drive, which is about 1/2 mile west off of Rt 87 (Kinsman) from the main park entrance. Elm Drive (which is located directly across from the Animal Hospital) ends right into the parking lot for this Community Hall about 1/2 mile down.

Please note that when you Google Map the location, it shows the directions to be slightly different. It does have you go down Elm Drive, but has some extra streets listed. As long as you turn on Elm Drive, you cannot miss it. Elm only goes north off of Rt. 87 as well. As mentioned above, Elm Drive ends and you essentially pull straight into the lot for the hall. Signage should be posted at Elm Drive / Rt. 87 and in front of the hall.

ALL PLAYERS MUST CHECK-IN AT THIS LOCATION PRIOR TO THE EVENT WITH NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!! There will be a waiver on hand for all players to sign (PDGA COVID-19 Waiver), and players will not be able to participate in the event without this document being signed. Players will also be provided with OB sheets that will include the password to access the PDGA Digital Scoring if they choose to do so.

Even with electronic scoring, a Scorepoint will be used to help plan out staring holes for both Round 1 and 2. So before round 2, it will be required that you check in for you starting hole before heading to the course. I will also try to add this starting hole information on the PDGA event page. But I'd prefer players to check-in before round 2 as well so any adjustments can be made for any players who drop.

Payouts and Awards will also be at this same location. We will have groups of 5-6 at the payout table at a time (1st place from each division in one group, 2nd place from each division in one group, etc.) to keep social distancing mandates in place and not have a huge crowd at the payout area.

I also ask that people do pay attention to the current mandates in the state of Ohio and ask you to wear a mask during any times at the community hall where social distancing cannot be respected. This is suggested for check-in, payouts, and any other times where people cannot maintain 6 feet of distance.

I have decided to use PDGA Electronic Scoring for this event. A code for score uploading will be provided the day of the event. That way, scores can be uploaded by the players per hole and then a live view of the current scoring will also be available. Physical scorecards will also be provided for those who want them, and can also be used as a double-check to make sure all players scores are aligned after the round. Per PDGA rules, players who choose to not go this route will be permitted to use and submit a physical scorecard. It's also important to note that the rules of incorrect score submission, regardless of electronic or physical, will still be penalized a 2 stroke penalty from their correct score if any incorrect scores are submitted.

Also, with the current COVID situation, a virtual players meeting will be posted 1 week before the event. OB and Layout sheets will be provided at check in. Awards will also be done with smaller groups with a max of 5-6 at a time selecting their discs. We may also not be selling any discs until after payouts to help keep things streamlined and to avoid large groups at the payout tables. We appreciate your understanding on all of this. In the instance that the climate regarding COVID and current restrictions from the PDGA will still be in place, please be advised that this event may end up being Tee Times. The format will remain the same with a Reds to Shorts for Round 1, followed by the same listed format per division for Round 2. We have 3+ months, but I did want to mention this possibility so people are not surprised if this ends up being the case. We will be following all recommendations from both the PDGA and the State of Ohio to ensure a safe and fun day for all competitors.

An update on this event is coming at the end of next week. The State of Ohio park system is still not approving events. We do have a couple options to make this work. An alternate location has already been decided on if need be. But our club will be meeting this week to discuss how we can keep this at Punderson and take some precautions to ensure we are following the current guidelines by not having large groups.
