Good evening.
Kyle, Cheryl and I are excited to return to Osage Grove where it all started for us. Thanks for signing up for the OG Open. We ran the OG Open a few years ago after the tornado went through the park. Since then the park has changed hands, and has changed some, but at the end of the day, it's still the OG.
This event will be on Saturday, March 29th. This will be a 2 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 930a. We will play the Blue layout to long baskets first round, and then the Reds to shortest baskets the second round. We will play the regular 18 hole layout, and also old 1, which is commonly referred to as hole 19.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event.
All course particulars are in PDGA live. The code will be OG329
Round 1 Blue to longest basket
Round 2 Red to shortest basket
Holes with 2 baskets:
6 A and C
8 A and C
12 B and C
14 B and D
16 A (woods) and B (mound)
18 A and C
I will put garbage bags over some of the baskets to help with confusion
Blue round the holes go 1-18, 19 (please be mindful when walking from 13 to 14 about walking behind 15's tee on the first round of Blues)
Red round is 1-13, 15, 14, 16-18, 19 (please be mindful to play the order of 13, 15, 14, 16 for Reds)
The only OB we will be playing is the following:
-OB creek on hole 6 surrounded by water or over/beyond it
-OB creek between 14/15 (over/past/beyond the water flow in the creek)
Everything else is casual water. Also, if you find some of the old barbwire fence that is still on parts of the course, you do get 2 meter relief from it. As asked in the comment section of the event, there will NOT be free relief from thorns. If you can't play your from your lie, you would take an unplayable per PDGA rules with penalty stroke.
The schedule will look like this for the day:
830-920a player check by hole 1
930a - Shotgun Start
Lunch approximately an hour after last card turned in
Round 2
Awards
Per PDGA you must check in or can be removed prior to the event. All players not checked in by 920a will be removed from the field. Please have enough respect for us as TD's to check in. Thank you for your help with this. There is nothing harder on the TD to scramble trying to figure out if there are enough players on a hole because someone didn't check in.
Also, per PDGA, all cards must be submitted/turned in within 30 minutes of completion of your round or the player receives a 2 stroke penalty. Please make sure you finalize your PDGA live. If you card doesn't receive a rating within a few minutes of submitting your scores on PDGA live, you know that someone on the card didn't finalize and submit.
Cards will be made up with pace of play in mind. Some cards will be mixed based on numbers in divisions. Pace of play is on each card. With a shotgun start and this layout, there is no reason for any card to get more than 1 hole behind. Please keep pace and be conscious about it.
Also, just a reminder, that any junior younger than 13 must have a parent/guardian on their card. There are many juniors now signing up in non-junior divisions, so we don't always catch this beforehand. Please advise and follow the PDGA guidelines on junior players.
We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted by 9p Friday night. However, people drop so I would double check 830a the morning of the event. You can find them here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/90364
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a refund, you must withdraw by 3p on Friday.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's merchandise vouchers. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand. All vouchers must be used day of event. We will not be bringing as much inventory as we had in the past. We were bringing way too much inventory. We will have around 200 discs from several different manufacturers, towels, chalk bags, hats, minis, etc.
For those who are in the ACE fund, if no ACE is hit we will donate it to the UC Discats program.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the layout from round 1 which means BLUE starting on hole 1.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put Cheryl or myself in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
Thanks for your interest in the second of the "Terwilleger Challenge" events run by Josh, Cheryl and Kyle Terwilleger. This is NOT a Crossover event, but a stand alone event run by the Terwilleger family in SW Ohio. In 2025, Crossover is just a SE Indiana club. This will be confusing for people at first.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
Josh, Cheryl and Kyle
