Hey everybody, checking in about Squad Games. I was contacted in August asking to swap dates with Russian Jack, so aiming for the weekend of 9/23. I agreed to change without contacting my own team, and 2 of my team is not available. Also, moving it up meant that I had to order discs a week ago. Given my impression of more skepticism than interest, I was not ready to out of pocket for the disc order on this new timeline. I am sorry to have to cancel this event that I have advertised with excitement, but I am cancelling Squad Games at this time and I aim to try again next year and continue to brainstorm ways to communicate or incentivize participation.

I have not cancelled the park reservation yet. If there is any interest out there in doing an unsanctioned match play by division event (single match play, not teams), please express interest and I'll keep the park reservation for 9/23. Please express interest in a one-day match play by Wednesday September 6. If there is no interest I will cancel the park reservation by September 8, the last day to cancel with refund. There will be no player's pack or discs available in this case, but 100% of the cash put in will be paid out. Cash available to all divisions. I'll post a replacement event for 9/23 and see if there are any takers. Talk to me about your questions or thoughts. Tell me how much you were planning on it and you're disappointed to hear of cancellation, tell me how much you are wanting to try it next year, tell me that a one day small event is even better bc you're not sure about match play, tell me your questions, tell me you were confused by 'team registration' or if that didn't work for you, tell me you're indifferent to the whole match play concept, give me some feedback to help me understand what would make this event successful. There have been a couple questions about Squad Games and what team match play is all about so thought I would use the comments to expand. Please reach out or add comment to ask any questions about this new tournament format!

Match play is where you will go head to head with other people in your division (your seed is your division). Player A will go against Player B (position 1 and 2 on the score card), Player C will match play with Player D (position 3 and 4 on the score card). Each hole is worth one point and the best score on a hole wins the point. If each player has the same score, the point pushes to the next hole. You will match play with each person on your card; after the first 6 holes, Player A will match with Player C, Player B will match with Player D. Any points that have pushed on a match will not be applied to a new match; the points on those holes will be 0 if they are not won. The points earned by each player at the end of the round will be applied to your team score. Positions on the score card will be organized randomly by a generator.

Scores will be added up after round 1, and teams will be ranked by score and round 2 positions will correspond with placement. The team with the top score after 2 rounds will win a trophy and $400 (entry fee returned).

Ace pot is available for round 1 and round 2. If ace is not hit, there will be a CTP throw off during the player’s party on Saturday night. At the player’s party, there will be more team based disc games, separate from the tournament. A team will not be missing out on points if they do not stay for the player’s party.

Lunch will be provided.

The top 4 scores based on round 1 and 2 will qualify for a 9 hole skins match. Skins is like match play with your entire card. Each hole with be worth $50 (each division). One player must have the best score on the hole in order to win. If there are tied scores, the $50 will push to the next hole. If $$ is pushed to the last hole, the division will continue until one player has bested a hole so all $ will be won. All seeds/divisions 1-2-3-4 are eligible for cash earnings.

Each team is a team of 4 and the team needs to register together. Consider adding team spirit by having a team sweatshirt, or everyone wears the same color, or have a cheer, or any other idea that brings about camaraderie.
