Directions from the Coast: Take Highway 299 to Willow Creek. Left on Highway 96. After 45 miles, right turn on Salmon River Road. At Forks of Salmon (17 miles up), take a right turn across two bridges onto Cecilville Road, and the course is be 17.5 miles further past Forks of Salmon. Don't miss that right turn!! (Note if you pass the Forks of Salmon Post office you missed the turn.) The Salmon River Saloon on the left side as you are headed upriver, you have made it. Average drive time from Arcata 3.25 hours without stopping, probably a little longer if you have never driven the road before.
Please note, the Salmon River Road is a narrow winding one lane road with two way traffic. If you are pulling a trailer or just would like to to avoid the one lane road there is an alternate route which takes about 45 minute longer. Just after Callahan, take a left on Cecilville Road, and drive 30 miles over the pass (Callahan, Cecilville, or Carter Meadow Summit) to Cecilville. Look for the Saloon on the right side of the road. Cecilville is which is 67 miles from Weed.
Directions from I-5: After the City of Weed, take the Edgewood/Gazelle exit, cross under the freeway, and take a right on Stewart Springs Road (old Highway 99). Go north 7 miles, and take a left on the Gazelle-Callahan Road in the town of Gazelle. This is one of the best scenic roads in CA; enjoy! Take this road all the way to Callahan (about 27 miles); joining Highway 3 along the way. Just after Callahan, take a left on Cecilville Road, and drive 30 miles over the pass (Callahan, Cecilville, or Carter Meadow Summit) and continue to Cecilville. Look for the Saloon on the right side of the road. Cecilville is which is 67 miles from Weed.
If you are coming from the North Exit I-5 in Yreka, take the Highway 3 exit, turn right then left to stay on Hwy 3, then to just short of callahan (41 miles). Turn right on Cecilville Road, and drive 30 miles over the pass (Callahan, Cecilville, or Carter Meadow Summit) and continue to Cecilville. Look for the Saloon on the right side of the road.
Looking forward to seeing you all real soon,
Allegra, Mike and Monk
