PARK ACCESS
Tournament central will be located by the bathrooms in Lundquist Park. Lundquist and Island Parks are adjacent to one another and accessible by a footbridge. There are about 50 parking spaces close to Lundquist Park. You may also use the lot at Easy Shopping Place. Please do not park at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center. Your vehicle could be towed if found there.
CHECK-IN
This is a flex event. Check in BEGINS at 11:30 a.m. All players MUST check in at tournament central which will be located by the bathrooms at Lundquist Park. You do not need to be present at 11:30 a.m. and may check in AT ANY TIME before you begin play but you MUST COMPLETE your round by 6 p.m.
GROUPS
You may form your own group of three or four players. No fivesomes. Once all players from your group have checked in, you may begin your round. If you do not have a group, let the tournament director know and he will help you form a card. Groups may consist of players from different divisions.
LAYOUT AND PLAY
One round of 18 holes. You may begin on any hole, but be sure to score the correct hole if starting at a hole other than the first tee. You may not “play through” or pass another group. This is a short course and the lines are tight. Please be patient.
OUT OF BOUNDS AND MANDATORY THROWS
Generally speaking, any thrown disc that lands on or over a walking path, sidewalk, structure or roads and in the river is out of bounds. Specifics for each hole are noted on the digital scorecard.
A disc must be completely surrounded by OB to be out of bounds. If any part of a disc is in bounds, the disc is in bounds and no penalty is assessed. If you disc is within one meter of the out of bounds line you may move the disc away from the OB line up to one meter in any direction toward the basket without penalty. You may not play (or stand prior to a throw) from out of bounds.
If you are unsure of a ruling you may declare a provisional throw and play the hole out from your lie as in bounds and out of bounds. You may take a picture of your lie to aid in describing your situation to the TD before he makes a ruling. Do not finalize your scorecards if you need a ruling on a lie until after the TD has ruled. Here is the hole-by-hole breakdown:
1 - On or over the paved surface.
2 - On or over the walking path.
3 - On or over the walking path and pavement to the right.
4 - No OB.
5 - On or over the walking path and the hard surface with the drain left of the basket.
6 - The river. Players have the option of going directly to the drop zone rather than attempt a throw over the Elkhart River. The drop zone is the alternate tee for the hole, located over the walking bridge and to the left. Players choosing this option will add TWO strokes to their hole score.
7 - On or over the walking path. The playground and its surrounding defined area.
8 - On the path. In or on the structure and its surrounding defined area.
9 - In the seating area, the concrete, and the structure.
10 - On or over the path.
11 - On or over the path to the left of the fairway. MANDO: drive must fly right of the designated tree. If the mando is missed, proceed to the drop zone located in line with the mando to the right. Add one stroke to your hole score.
12 - No OB.
13 - The river and on or over the walking path to the left.
14 - In or on the pavilion and its surrounding hard surfaces. On or over the walking path. After finishing the hole walk back over the bridge to hole #15.
15 - On or over the sidewalk behind the basket.
16 - On or over the sidewalk.
17 - On the sidewalk. Inside the orange safety fence with the construction equipment.
18 - On or over the walking path and road.
RULES
This is an officially sanctioned PDGA event. It is your responsibility to know and follow the Official Rules of Disc Golf. You may read them here:
https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf.
SCORING
All players must keep score. We will be using the PDGA live scoring app. The app is available for Android and Apple iOS. If you do not have a cell phone, you may use a paper scorecard available at tournament central. The access code for scoring is: geese
SAFETY
This is a public park. It is probable that you will encounter spectators as well as other community members using the park during the event. Please be mindful of your surroundings and use caution when throwing. Never throw over, at or near another person. Wait until the hole in front of you is clear of players before teeing off. Leave the geese alone. This is their home.
If your disc lands in the river and is quickly and easily accessible you may retrieve it. You have three minutes. Otherwise, you must continue play and may retrieve your disc following the completion of your round. Do not go into the river under any circumstances during the tournament.
SIDE GAMES (Ace Pool and 50/5 CTP)
All aces will split. The 50/50 CTP will be awarded to the player whose disc lands closest to the basket on hole #15. If a player aces the CTP hole they will win the CTP and split the ace pool with any other aces on the day. Since this is a flex event, we will not have a throw-off If no ace is hit. Instead, the ace pool will be donated to the Window Food Pantry.
WATER
Bottled water will be available at tournament central. Please help yourself.
VENDORS
Fly High Disc Supply will be on hand with their mobile flymart during the event. You can also check out their online store here:

AWARDS
The top three finishers in each division will receive a trophy. Awards will take place at the conclusion of all rounds. Players in attendance at that time can take their trophy home. All others will need to make arrangements with the TD or City of Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department.
