Hey everyone. We are super excited to host the Gem City Conference Clash tomorrow morning at Echo Valley in Waynesville. This will be a College Disc Golf style teams event with one round of singles and one round of doubles. We will play singles in the morning and teams in the afternoon, with a lunch break in between rounds where we will provide pizza. Please reach out with any questions or concerns before the event.
Hole assignments are posted for both rounds. Last year we had some issues getting the live scoring for teams set up after the singles round, so we went ahead and set cards in advance. All course particulars are in PDGA live and can also be previewed in this Google Sheet. All pavement and gravel roads will play OB, and all other OBs will be flagged. There may be some faint lines still painted from previous events. In general, all OB areas that are not roads will be flagged, though there may be some areas where lines are more visible and we were able to reuse them. PDGA Live has the final say, so if there is any doubt refer to the particulars listed on the app. The only holes where this may realistically come into play are 3 and 12. There will not be any OB on these 2 holes.
Both rounds will have a different event code.
Singles: GCCSingles
Teams: GCCTeams
Per the PDGA guidelines, every player must keep score during the singles round. PDGA Live is the easiest way to do this, but you may also keep score on paper. Only 1 player per team will need to keep score during the teams round. MA1 will play the Gold Tees (long tees) in both rounds and MA2 and FA1 will play the Blue Tees (short tees) in both rounds.
We are asking that all teams check in before the round near hole 1’s tee pad. We do not need every player to check in, but a representative from each team should come to touch base with us. We should be able to relay important information to everyone during check-in, so there most likely won’t be a structured players meeting. Instead, you can use those 15 minutes to start making your way to the starting hole.
Here is the rough schedule for the day:
8-8:45am – Check-in
9am – Round 1 Shotgun Start (Singles)
~12:30pm – Lunch (pizza provided; will have 1 hour between rounds from when the pizza arrives or the last card is submitted, whatever comes last)
2pm – Round 2 Shotgun Start (Teams)
There will be no awards for this event. $2 from each player’s entry is deducted by the PDGA for player fees, and the remaining $3 will be used to provide lunch. Once the scorecard has been submitted for the final round, you are free to head out.
Safe travels to and from the event, we’re excited to see everyone tomorrow!
Thanks,
The Flyer Disc Golf Team
