Good morning.
I wanted to get this tournament email out this evening. Cheryl and I are super excited about the Frosty Fling #2 that will be at Monroe Community Park. This event will be on Sunday, 1/21. This will be a 1 round PDGA C-tier that will shotgun start at 10a.
The following will be the most important details for the event. Please reach out to us if you have any additional questions or comments before the event. If you have any questions or issues in regards to the tournament, please text/call Cheryl at 513-348-6140. She'll be the TD for this event.
We are playing the original 24 holes hole only. It should be a fun and challenging day for everyone. The course flows well. Please note that as of this email, the course has received about 2 inches of snow. So plan accordingly. I'm sure the snow will be wore down in the fairways, just be prepared to keep an eye on discs the might kick off the fairway. If you decide to use chalk/ribbons, that is acceptable.
All course particulars are in PDGA live. The main OB is on/over pavement and over fences on a few holes where people live in their backyards. If you encounter any barbwire fence, you get 2 meters of relief. If you find yourself on an ice patch, you may take free/casual relief away from the basket per PDGA rules.
PDGA live code: monroe121
The schedule will look like this for the day:
9-950a player check by hole 1 shelter
10a - Shotgun Start
Awards
Please take the time to check in with us. This makes are jobs easier to make sure that all players are here and that we don't need to move players around. We will be in the BLUE FORD TRUCK by shelter by hole 1 to check in. Cheryl will be on the passenger side.
Cards will be made up with pace of play in mind. Some cards will be mixed based on numbers in divisions. There will be no cards of more than 4 players.
Also, just a reminder, that any junior younger than 13 must have a parent/guardian on their card. There are many juniors now signing up in non-junior divisions, so we don't always catch this beforehand. Please advise and follow the PDGA guidelines on junior players.
We are not going to have a players meeting. It is your responsibility to know what's expected for the day and be at your hole for the start of each round. Hole assignments will be posted by 9p Saturday night. You can find them here:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/76342
If you decide that this event is not for you, to receive a refund, you must withdraw by noon on Saturday.
Following the round, please give us a few minutes to get everything organized so we can hand out awards and payouts. If you are curious if you are going to get a payout, it is the top 40% per division by the PDGA. That will help you determine if you need/want to stick around. The Open players will receive cash/PayPal, and the AM's Crossover Cash. This can be exchanged for disc golf merchandise that we will have on hand. All Novice divisions are trophy only.
As posted in DGS, if no one hits an the ACE fund, we will donate it to the North Dearborn Pantry. In years past we have donated to them, and we want to keep that tradition alive. Winter Series are typically about donating to worthy causes, and it's important to us to do that as well.
In the event there is a tie for first place in a division, the playoff will start on hole #1 until there is a winner, playing the layout from round 1.
This is a PDGA event, so everyone should be up to date on the PDGA's stance on what is legal and what is not legal. Please don't put Cheryl or myself in position to make a call that we don't want to address, or should have to address.
It's going to be a great day. Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Thanks,
Josh and Cheryl
