Would love to hear some thoughts on this: The PDGA has suspended sanctioned events until 5/31/20. Here's what I plan on doing at this point:
- The Catalpa is going to be changed from a B Tier to a Pro C / Am B tier status. The PDGA requires $700 added cash for B Tier pro divisions. With all the uncertainty and Michigan has completely shut down all the businesses I cannot in good conscience even dream of soliciting for sponsorships when many businesses we'd normally hit up are well on their way to bankruptcy.
- Player packs for the Catalpa are almost certainly NOT going to be custom discs, clipboards or whatever. The lead time for items like this are typically several weeks and require A LOT of cash upfront to pay for them. The club bank account does not have that kind of cash at the moment. So instead, we are going to support one of these suffering businesses with gift certificates to one or more local shops or restaurants as player packs.
- Registration for the Catalpa is going to be suspended until 5/31 until we have a clearer picture on when and if we can have the tournament. There is a possibility of doing cashless preregistration.
- For now, the date of the tourney is going to remain 6/13-14 so long as local laws/rules permit. If the PDGA removes sanctioning for the month of June I don't know what we'll do. We could still hold it so long as it's allowed as a unsanctioned event...we'll see.
