Thank you for choosing to play the Big Bang Boom sponsored by Dynamic Discs. This is a PDGA sanctioned event and will follow all PDGA rules. This is a two round event on a temporary course at Black Squirrel Golf Course using PDGA approved targets. All amateurs will receive a player package. The top 45% of amateurs will prize out at the end of the event using credit to be redeemed at Michiana Pro Shop. MPS will have their mobile fly mart at the event or you may use your credit in person at their store in Wakarusa.
SPECIAL THANKS
Setting up a temporary course takes a lot to plan and install. We wouldn’t have this event if not for volunteer work from Toney Lanham and Brad Chupp . I’d also like to thank Bryan Canen for helping with set up and Chad Rump and Chad Yoder for having an event here last October.
Grant Sassaman is the owner of Black Squirrel Golf Course. He has been a significant supporter of disc golf in Goshen and we are grateful for the opportunity to play at Black Squirrel. Mark your calendars for October 5th and the Black Squirrel Open.
PARKING
The parking lot will be closed in preparation for the fireworks display in the evening. All are welcome to stay after the tournament to enjoy the show. However, you will need to park on the grass parallel to golf holes 8 and 9. The grass area is located between Plymouth Avenue and the treeline for those two golf holes. Thank you.
ALCOHOL
Alcohol is not permitted during tournament play. Black Squirrel Golf Course serves alcohol, so one could consume alcohol before, during the lunch break, and after the second round is complete, provided it is purchased from Black Squirrel. The snack bar will be open for beverage sales during the day. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Please be respectful. For perspective, a person bringing their own alcohol to the course is the same as you or I bringing a beer from our fridge at home and walking into a local bar or restaurant. Thank you for cooperating.
LUNCH
You will have 60 minutes from the time the last card finishes the first round until tee off of the second round. Please plan accordingly. You will find your hole assignments for the second round posted at the event page for the PDGA website and on the PDGA scoring app. You may also check with the tournament director.
The snack bar will be open for beverage sales only prior to the conclusion of the tournament. You should bring lunch or plan to pick up food quickly after your round. We will not wait for you to return should you leave the property, before we begin round two once the mandatory minimum of 60 minutes between rounds has passed.
OUT OF BOUNDS
All structures, public roads, water, private property, golf tee boxes and golf greens are out of bounds.
The Larimer Greens welcome signs and the landscaping surrounding them are considered private property and therefore out of bounds. This will come into play on hole 16.
If your disc lands in the water, you may retrieve it by hand or with a device. NO ONE is permitted to be in the water. If you are found in the water for any reason you are subject to disqualification.
Private property is indicated with fence lines. Where there is no fence line you should make a straight line between the electrical boxes and posts that line the perimeter of the Black Squirrel property.
HAZARD AREAS
All sand traps are to be played as hazards. If your disc is completely surrounded by sand and/or is completely inside the bunker perimeter, in what would normally be considered “sand” one penalty stroke will be added to your score. Play the disc where it lies. Rake the bunker after your throw.
Whenever you are in doubt, take a picture and throw a provisional shot. The TD can make a ruling after the round.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
There is no map. There is no UDisc. Follow the orange arrows. All tee boxes are sprayed out in orange and also have orange flags. Most tees are grass. Plan accordingly.
Please keep your disc golf carts off the ball golf tee pads and greens.
On hole 9 you must tee off from inside the orange square. This is the tee pad for all holes.
