UPDATE: Yesterday 7-11-24: A crew of people, David Stroud, Brenda & Jaime Ortiz, Kevin Gibbons, Hunter Martin, Patrick Martin, Gil Delacruz, Michael Musquiz and Ben Madary, spent all day at the park In the rain/thunder/lightening storms, and got all the fairways and greens playable. Today and Tomorrow we will be continuing prepping the greens by raking up the leaves and small sticks.
I will be extending cutoff for refund withdrawn until the 5pm today. After 5pm, I will reserve your players pack and hold it for you to pickup.
Parking
(I don't care if you're local, everyone parks across the street)Standard Dunbar parking will be reserved for CycleWorks Van, Volunteers, assistant TD and City truck maintaining the Propane Generator station for the city pump station. The Park Gate WILL REMAIN CLOSED AND LOCKED
ALL PARKING will be located across the street at the Football field parking lot. We will run a shuttle to get to the course to prevent you needing to cross the highway on foot. We will run this shuttle every 20 minutes until 8:00. We will start after we finish setting up. We will place a temp basket near the designated parking lot to allow warmup putting, there is plenty of area there for throwing to warm up while you wait for us to pick you up on the shuttle. We will run this shuttle at the lunch break as well. I'm trying to find a lunch vendor but so many places are still closed its hard. Maybe bring chairs to chill for lunch or whatever, I'm going to bring all my spare tables so people can eat together if they like.
Restroom Situation
No restrooms on site, After the players meeting I will shuttle anyone who needs to make a Buccees Run to the clean restrooms at Buccees 1.5 miles away. I will plan enough time after the players meeting to allow us to make a Buccee's run and get everyone to their holes on time.
If you plan on playing Frogger across the street, here's my warning. Both nearest stoplights are still out and are operating as a 4 way stop. Traffic has been consistent. It won't be easy or safe.
There will be no raffle at this event. We PLEAD with you to please consider this as an option. Whatever money you would have used to buy raffle tickets, DONATE that money to your local club instead. Many courses have damage and need those funds now more than ever, and if your local course isn't damaged, I'm sure the local club has a project in the works and could use the funding anywayOR Donate to a club that you know needs the money for repair work.
Course Conditions
The course is WET and will be WET on Sunday. We suspect it to drain some, but expect a wet course and plan accordingly. There are Trees down, limbs down, if you've ever played this course before, it will play differently. There will be NO IN PLACE MANDOS. It will be a mix of Green(Shorts) and White(Longs). Mixed with a couple temp basket locations.
Tournament Central*** Our little pavilion is small. We will have a small selection of discs probably about 50-55 totes. We will more than likely be CASH ONLY. I do not suspect being able to have Internet if I can swing it I will. No promises.
