Email Sent Friday, February 16th:
Thank you again for signing up for the 2024 Bring Your Own Valentine Doubles!
There is still room for more teams, so please encourage your friends to sign up online by midnight tonight, or in person tomorrow.
Starting hole assignments can be found here (link posted in comments). Please note that we have one 3 top and I am hoping we get at least one more team to sign up, so confirm your starting hole tomorrow at check in.
Speaking of, check in starts at 8:45 near hole 1.
Each division has 2 CTPs, listed on the same spreadsheet (along with payouts and how much we raised with this event). Look out for the red roses and TRIPLE check that it is your division before writing your name. Again, CTPs and ace pot are individual prizes.
Reminder about a few other things:
- This is a rain or shine event. Weather looks good right now (knock on wood).
- Layout - Everyone will be playing red pads. The extra 4 west sound invitational holes will be in play.
- If you did not, but would like to purchase love bugs, please bring exact cash at sign in:
$5 for 1 or 5 for $20
Total of 5 allowed per team
When you use a love bug both teammates rethrow. After throwing the 4 throws (in total), you
can choose the best shot out of those 4 to throw from.
- Payouts for division winners will be made via paypal within a day or two of the event.
- Scorekeeping - Udisc. One person on your card will need to use udisc to keep score. Provide me with the team scores after the round. I will be playing, so you may have to hang around until I get back. Please use the "west sound invitational" layout on udisc.
- Format - We are playing the typical “best throw” doubles format:
Both team members throw from the teeing area.
The team then chooses which of the two positions to play from for the next throw. Both team
members throw from the resulting lie, and the team again chooses which of the two positions
to play from, and so on.
A team completes a hole when either team member completes the hole.
The score for a team on a hole is the number of throws for the lies that were played, plus any
penalty throws.
If a team picks up a thrown disc before a lie has been chosen or marked with a marker disc,
the team may not choose that throw. If a team picks up both thrown discs without a lie having
been marked, the second disc to have been picked up is replaced to its original position as
agreed upon by the group, and the team must play from the resulting lie.
When you use a love bug both teammates rethrow from that lie.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning!
