Greetings Everyone - I have some unfortunate news:

Based on my discussions with the Department of Health this week, the MKDGC is unable to accept the majority of players currently registered. As such, I am planning on issuing a full refund to all players on the registration list. I have exhausted every possible approach to make this event happen, but proceeding as planned could put the permit at risk, nullify our insurance, or result in fines.

I apologize for any inconvenience from this change and hope to issue everyone a refund by this weekend or early next week. My plan is to make use of the NYS Park permit for 08/23 with a smaller XC Tier available to players in the Mohawk Valley Region. I will share more information about this once I work out the details.

Jess and I will truly miss not seeing many of you this year. We wish you all well and hope to see you in 2021.

Greetings everyone!

I hope you all are doing well and staying cool. I have some very important updates I need to share with everyone. Please read these details carefully:

First, the good news: I met with the Park Manager on Thursday, and he said that the permit should be signed by NYS Parks shortly. We have agreed to implement a long list of COVID-19 precautions which they have reviewed and are content with. I will explain all of our mitigation measures later.

Now, the bad news: To meet the Parks requirements, we have to reduce the field size of the event down to 48 players per day. We will accomplish this by separating the Amateur fields and the Professional fields. Ams will play Saturday (08/22); Pros will play Sunday (08/23). All players will compete over 2 rounds on a custom layout.

Although this is a huge blow to the tournament, it is necessary to make the Park comfortable with the event proceeding. There is also a silver lining: This change will take a few players off of the waitlist and will open up 21 Pro spots. As a reminder, anyone who wishes to withdraw from the tournament will receive a FULL refund if they withdraw before the event starts.

Lastly, in order to fulfill our COVID-19 mitigation plan and confirm a few registration details from months ago, we have developed an online form that is mandatory for all participants. If you do not fill out the form in time, you will be removed from the registration list. If you have any issues or difficulty using the form, please reach out to me immediately. The form will also be used for amateurs to select their player packs and for campers to be assigned campsites. There is a very limited amount of player pack choices/colors (5 or 6 each), so the first ones to fill out the form will get the best selection.

In full disclosure, there are still a couple issues we are working out with the Park (such as a conflict with the pavilion). I was hoping to have them resolved before I made this announcement, but I also don’t want to wait any longer to share this info, since it has a large effect on players. Please fill out the form as soon as you get a chance and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
