Chris we really appreciate your enthusiasm. We wish it were as simple as just bringing them back, but there is significant amount of work with regards to permitting and approval to accomplish the inclusion of the temporary holes. Being one day out from the tournament it is impossible to re-coordinate our efforts with the city to bring back the temporary holes. The city is extremely great to work with and very supportive of our efforts but once you stop the process it's done and has to be restarted all over. And unfortunately we had to make that decision based off of the information we had at the time. Our club is very small and the gamble to carry the financial load of renting out the park would have solely fell on the four people that organize this event.

Here is the latest with regards the temp holes. As of now we only have 70 registered players. The break-even for the tournament including the fees associated with 3 days of Park rental for the temp holes was 90 registered players. The tournament staff has made the decision to remove the 7 temp holes on the west side of the park due to the lower than expected registration level. This will leave us with a 20 hole layout as we had last year. The good news is, there is plenty to do on the Monterey Bay this weekend such as Monterey Beer Festival ( http://www.montereybeerfestival.com/ ). You can thank us later.
