We realize there’s a lot of questions and concerns out there so we wanted to give you an update.
Given the current situation due to Covid and the fire damage on the mountain, this event could be canceled at any time up to the tournament.
We are constantly monitoring the situation on the mountain, and currently have a green light from the PDGA and Ski Valley.
Ski Valley is still working closely with the forest service to re-confirm that they are giving us the green light to play also.
Currently the road to Mt. Lemmon, plus all the stores, are closed until repairs are done. The community on Mt. Lemmon is doing everything in their power to reopen as quickly as possible.
Format changes: Due to the fire, we are now looking at playing the same 18 hole course for doubles and all 3 rounds of the tournament. We will not have a final course determined until we can get up to the mountain. Tentatively it will be the first 14 holes of the Lemmon course, followed by the last 4 holes of the Lemmon Drop course.
Some good news: NO CUT THIS YEAR, since we are not playing the original 27 hole course.
Due to Covid doubles will change from random draw to a bring your own partner format (3 divisions: AM/AM, AM/PRO, and PRO/PRO)
Another important change this year, is that currently there is no camping allowed on the mountain until November 1st! This could change if conditions get better, but as for now, staying on the mountain can only be done at a rental/cabins in Summerhaven or you can drive back down to Tucson each evening.
We are doing everything in our power to make sure this event happens. Any changes or updates will be posted to this event page. If you have any questions, the fastest way to get them answered is in the comments on this post.
