Ice Cube Open Raises Over $450 for Local Charities

Devens Disc Golf hosted its second annual Ice Cube Open Ice Bowl Saturday, Jan. 24 to benefit Devens Loaves and Fishes and ARC Community Services. Thirty golfers played two rounds of singles and raised over $450 through entry fees, a disc grab bag raffle, and donations. About 200 pounds of food were also donated.

LOTS OF PRIZES AND SNACKS DONATED
Several businesses and individual golfers donated food and prizes to keep the golfers fueled, warm, and happy throughout the day. Special thanks goes to the Harvard General Store for donating tasty muffins and croissants for breakfast and the Devens Grill for supplying some delicious chili for lunch. Dunkin Donuts, Breakmark Ultimate Apparel, Old Sturbridge Village, Bradley Arnall, Mike Dussault, Ken Gary, and John Borelli also donated gift certificates and door prizes.

SNOWY, BREEZY, AND COLD
The weather cooperated again this year with temps in the low 30s and a brisk breeze throughout. Although 10 inches of crusty snow made for some tricky and slippery golf, only about 5 discs were lost in the white stuff and everyone came back alive!
