This league is a mixed format league (mostly singles and some best-disc doubles rounds) with payouts for both daily round winners and a seeded tournament-style double-elimination bracket championship to finish off the season. Each round (yes each round, not each day) has a $5 fee with the payouts being $2 to the round winner (if there is a high member turnout, we could do a "win your money back" second place prize, to be voted on), $2 to the championship winner and $1 to the Ace Pot. If the Ace Pot is won before the end of the season, the Ace Pot will reset and the new one will continue until the next ACE is scored/end of season. If multiple ACES are scored by different players on the same DAY, the scoring players will split the Ace Pot. It doesn't matter what hole or even what round, all same day ACES split the current Ace Pot. If the Ace Pot is not won by anybody by the end of the season, we can do a number of things--refund everybody their Ace Pot contributions, award it to the championship round winner, have a CTP-off at an agreed hole or holes, etc..
ALL rounds are absolutely always rain or shine. Schedule and format is not currently finalized, so please voice concerns or suggestions. Once schedule is set, in order to change a play date/location, a motion to change must be initiated at least two days before tee time (before Saturday has ended), at least 75% of the league must respond, and at least 51% must vote in favor of the change. No rounds may be canceled unless there are less than three eligible league members available for regulation play.
When it comes to points...the more you show the more you grow. In order to offer some relief to those who aren't able to show up as often or to those who just weren't having many good rounds all season, everybody who plays at least 10 rounds but less than all 18 regulation rounds will be able to drop one of their zero point rounds in exchange for a match of whatever was their highest points from another round. For example, if Discy Discerson played 10 regulation rounds, and had 8 no-shows (zeros), and his best finish was 2nd place for 5 points, Discy can turn one of those zeros into a 5-pointer. Anybody who played in every regulation round will not be eligible to "drop" any low scores. This is the closest thing to a handicap that this league will have.
All PDGA tournament rules will be in effect during all rounds of play (out of bounds/hazards, jump putts in the circle, playing out of turn, foot faults, etc.) If you are unsure of any rules ahead of time, read the rulebook and educate yourself. If unsure during play, ask another league member. Anytime there is confusion/disagreements during the round, the card is asked for consensus. If a consensus can not be reached, the ruling is in favor of the accused/affected player ("tie goes to the runner"). Additionally, the beloved California 2-meter rule will be in effect for ALL ROUNDS IN CALIFORNIA and any course outside of California that has such a rule posted.
The best way to voice concerns, ask questions and discuss proposals is on this very page in the comments section or to ask the League Coordinator directly--a group text would be helpful also so share as many numbers as you can...perhaps a virtual chat program like Slack might be the best platform.
